Spain approves measures to mitigate effects of Thomas Cook bankruptcy

MADRID, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The acting Spanish government has approved a package of emergency measures to limit the effects of the collapse of British holiday operator Thomas Cook on the Spanish tourist sector.

Among the series of emergency measures approved on Friday that valued at about 800 million euros (about 883 million U.S. dollars), 200 million euros have been designated to help affected Spanish companies, according to a communique by the Spanish Ministry for Industry Trade and Tourism

Brexit plans to center Queen's parliament speech

LONDON, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- British government said on Sunday that measures to help the country prosper in the post-Brexit era are set to be laid out in the Queen's Speech in the parliament.

The government said the Queen's Speech on Monday will outline 22 bills including some measures to allow Britain to "seize the opportunities that Brexit presents," according to local media.

British media reported that plans to end the free movement of European Union (EU) citizens into Britain and provide faster access to medicines will also be unveiled.

Putin calls on countries to respect Iran’s interests

Two Russians killed in An-72 crash in Africa were pilots - embassy

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/: Two Russian nationals killed in an Antonov An-72 aircraft crash in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) were pilots, Spokesperson for the Russian embassy in the country Natalya Kononova told TASS.

According to her, the bodies haven’t been found yet as the plane crashed in a hard-to-reach area.

The aircraft, en route from the city of Goma to Kinshasa, crashed on Friday. There were four crew members, several military officers and civilians onboard, including DRC presidential administration personnel.

Attacks on tankers, oil facilities won’t damage OPEC+ cooperation - Putin

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/: Attacks on tankers and oil facilities in the Persian Gulf region won’t damage cooperation between Russia and Arab countries, particularly under the OPEC+ deal, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Al Arabiya, Sky News Arabia and RT.

"If someone thinks that actions such as tanker detentions and attacks on oil facilities will somehow influence Russia’s cooperation with our Arab friends, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, or damage OPEC+ cooperation, they are wrong," Putin pointed out.

Ukrainian military shells DPR settlement - militia

DONETSK, October 12. /TASS/: The Ukrainian military shelled the Kominternovo settlement in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) overnight into Saturday, the DPR militia said in a statement.

"Last night, war criminals from the 36th Marine Brigade carried out a massive shelling attack on the Kominternovo settlement. A 120 mm mine hit a home, causing damage," the Donetsk News Agency quoted the statement as saying.

Russia will pull out of Syria if Damascus decides troops have to leave - Putin

The World Food Programme and its partners will still support people in the northeast despite a deterioration in the security situation, it said. About 580,000 of the people it feeds in the region are currently living in Kurdish-controlled areas.
