MOSCOW (AP) — The Kremlin has warned that the martial law that will go into effect in parts of Ukraine on Wednesday might trigger renewed hostilities in the separatist-held east.

The Ukrainian parliament on Monday adopted a motion by the president to impose martial law for 30 days, something that Ukraine avoided doing even when Russia annexed its Crimean peninsula or sent in clandestine troops and weapons to the war-torn east.

Athens,Oct. 26; UPI  -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck off Greece's west coast early Friday near the island of Zakynthos.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake's epicenter was located 20 miles south of the island's southern tip of Mouzaki.

The USGS said the quake occurred "as the result of rupture on or near the plate boundary between the Nubia (Africa) and the Eurasia plates."

BRUSSELS, November 26. /TASS/. Russia must release Ukrainian sailors and ships detained for illegally entering the Sea of Azov on Sunday, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Twitter.

"I condemn Russian use of force in the Azov Sea. Russian authorities must return Ukrainian sailors, vessels and refrain from further provocations. I discussed the situation with President Poroshenko and will meet with his representatives later today. Europe will stay united in support of Ukraine," the tweet reads.

KIEV, November 26. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada’s Security and Defense Committee has unanimously approved a bill declaring martial law in the country.

The Verkhonva Rada’s closed-door meeting on the bill is scheduled to begin at 16:00 local time (14:00 GMT).

SIMFEROPOL, November 26. /TASS/. Twenty-four crewmembers of the Ukrainian warships that violated the Russian border have been detained in Crimea, Crimea’s head Sergei Aksyonov said on Monday.

"Those wounded are receiving comprehensive medical assistance at a hospital in Kerch. They are in condition of medium gravity. There is no threat to the lives of other 24 Ukrainian seamen who have been detained," he said in an interview with Russia’s television Channel One.
