China's battery producer CATL officially launches Hungarian plant

DEBRECEN, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese battery producer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) signed a real estate deal with the city of Debrecen in Hungary on Monday, marking the official launch of its second European plant.

Covering an area of 221 hectares in the Southern Industrial Park of Debrecen, construction of CATL's Hungarian plant is scheduled to begin this year. With a total investment of 7.34 billion euros (7.28 billion U.S. dollars), the plant is expected to achieve a production capacity of 100 GWh.

UN agency calls for safety zone around Ukraine nuclear plant

Israeli president gives broad speech to Germany’s parliament

BERLIN (AP) — Israel’s president addressed Germany’s parliament on Tuesday about atrocities committed during the Third Reich, while at the same time praising the close and friendly relations that have emerged between the two countries since the end of the Holocaust.

Six million European Jews were murdered by Germany’s Nazis and their henchmen during World War II.

“Never in human history was there a campaign like the one the Nazis and their accomplices conducted to annihilate the Jewish people,” Israeli President Isaac Herzog told lawmakers at the Bundestag.

OPEC+ cut oil production fearing economic downturn

06 Sep 2022; MEMO: The influential energy alliance known as OPEC+ yesterday agreed to cut oil production by about 10,000 barrels per day, starting from October.

According to news agencies and analysts, the production cut surprised the international energy markets at a time of considerable dispute between Russia and the West over the latter's war in Ukraine.

Russia records 41,690 daily COVID-19 cases, 76 deaths — crisis center

MOSCOW, September 5. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 41,690 over the past day to 19,771,113, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Monday.

A day earlier, 48,042 daily cases were recorded.

As many as 1,830 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 18.3% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients decreased in 45 regions, while in 32 regions the figure increased. The situation remained unchanged in eight regions. A day earlier, 2,239 people were rushed to hospitals.

Russia's duty is to help Donbass, says Putin

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, September 5. /TASS/: Russia's duty is to help people living in Donbass, all attempts to peacefully resolve the situation ended in failure due to Kiev's position, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday at a meeting with participants of an environmental forum taking place in Kamchatka.

"It is our duty to help these people (those living in Donbass - TASS), and this is exactly what Russia is doing. All our attempts to resolve this problem peacefully have failed because of the Kiev regime’s position," he said.
