India: Karnataka govt to buy 1000 ventilators, 5 lakh PPE

Bengaluru, Mar 23 (PTI) The Karnataka government on Monday decided to purchase 1,000 ventilators from medical devices company Skanray Technologies and five lakh Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), amid rising COVID-19 cases.

Health Minister B Sriramulu convened a meeting with officials to review the situation in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, and with the Mysuru-based firm through a video conference.

Nepal shuts Border With India For A Week To Prevent COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Mar 23 (NNN-NEPALNEWS) — With the increasing spread of COVID-19 infection across the world, Nepal decided to shut down its border with China and India for a week.

The decision was made in a cabinet meeting, held on Sunday evening, under the leadership of Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli at his official residence, Baluwatar. It was the first cabinet meeting held by PM Oli, after his kidney transplant.

Lebanon Receives A 14.5-Million-USD Donation to Fight COVID-19

BEIRUT, Mar 23 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon on Sunday, received at least 22 billion Lebanese pounds (about 14.5 million U.S. dollars) donated by citizens, expatriates and officials to combat COVID-19, MTV reported.

The donation will be delivered through Bank Audi, to the Rafic Hariri hospital and other public hospitals involved in the fight against COVID-19, in addition to the Lebanese Red Cross and vulnerable people, who are in dire need to secure daily income to make a living, it said.

Germany Decides To Further Restrict Public Life To Combat COVID-19

BERLIN, Mar 23 (NNN-XINHUA) – Germany bans public outside stay of more than two people, according to the country’s latest measures announced on Sunday, to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Germany’s federal government and states, agreed on Sunday, to further restrict public life and social contacts to contain the virus. German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, made the announcement, after her teleconferencing with heads of federal states.

Iran: Coronavirus death toll rises to 1,685

22 Mar 2020; MEMO: A total of 129 people in Iran have died of coronavirus over the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll up to 1,685, said an Iranian health official on Sunday.

According to Iranian state TV, Health Ministry Spokesperson Kianoush Jahanpour said 1,028 new virus cases were found, raising the number of cases to 21,638.

He added that a total of 7,913 people who were treated for the virus have so far been discharged from hospital.

China reports first local COVID-19 case after three days

Beijing, Mar 22 (PTI) China reported its first domestic coronavirus case after a gap of three days as the country saw a surge in imported infections with 45 new cases and initiated stricter measures to avert COVID-19 to resurface and create a second wave of infections, health officials said on Sunday.

China's National Health Commission (NHC) said that 46 new confirmed cases were reported on the mainland on Saturday, including one domestic infection transmitted by imported cases in Guangzhou.

47 new infections reported in Singapore, cases rise to 432

Singapore, Mar 22 (PTI) Singapore has reported 47 new coronavirus cases, including 39 imported infections, taking the total number to 432 in the country, officials have said.

The city-state reported two deaths related to the COVID-19 infections on Saturday while 89 foreigners were banned for breaching safety measures.
