Italy coronavirus cases exceed 1,000, death toll at 29

ROME, March 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The number of cases of the new coronavirus in Italy has exceeded 1,000, the health ministry said, with the death toll rising by eight to 29 in the past 24 hours.

The number of cases has reached 1,128 since the start of the epidemic a week ago, up from 888 on Friday.

Around half those tested show few to no symptoms, the Italian health authorities said.

Official figures said 105 people were receiving intensive care hospital treatment as of Saturday.

Death toll of coronavirus in China climbs to 2,835

Beijing, Feb 29 (PTI) Forty seven more people have died of the deadly coronavirus, rasing the death toll in the country to 2,835 while the number of confirmed cases climbed to 79,251, Chinese health officials said on Saturday.

China's National Health Commission (NHC) in its daily report on Saturday said it received reports of 427 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection and 47 deaths on Friday.

Saudi Arabia Suspends Entry Of Gulf Nationals To Mecca, Medina

RIYADH, Feb 29 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia announced, on Friday, the suspension of the entry of Gulf nationals to Mecca and Medina, as part of precautionary measures against COVID-19.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry, said, the temporary ban does not cover Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, who have been in the kingdom for 14 consecutive days, without showing signs of COVID-19 infection and wish to perform Umrah (minor Haj) or visit the Prophet’s Mosque.

Such GCC nationals can apply through the website of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to obtain a permit.

Kuwait's coronavirus cases rise to 45

28 Feb 2020; MEMO: Kuwait confirmed two more cases of the new coronavirus today, taking the toll to 45, according to its Health Ministry.

“The two cases were in contact with the infected people who came from Iran before the outbreak was announced,” the ministry said.

The ministry asserted stable health conditions of all cases and “efficiency of medical staff dealing with them at three medical quarantine centers.”

India: Over 3.8 lakh children malnourished in Gujarat: Govt

Gandhinagar, Feb 27 (PTI) More than 3.8 lakh children in Gujarat were malnourished, indicating a sharp increase of over 2.41 lakh in their number since July last year, the state government informed the Assembly on Thursday.

Responding to a set of questions raised by Congress MLAs during Question Hour, Vibhavari Dave, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, informed the house that there were a total of 3,83,840 malnourished children in the state.
