WARSAW, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Poland ended a ground search on Saturday after finding no parts of a suspected Russian rocket which it said had violated the country's airspace on Friday morning, the Polish army said.

"At 3:00 pm (1400 GMT), the inspection of the designated area was completed... The search result was negative," the Polish army's operational command wrote on social media platform X.

"Military activities have been completed and we do not plan any further field verification."

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s defense forces said an unknown object entered the country’s airspace Friday morning from the direction of Ukraine and then vanished off radars, and that all indications pointed to it being a Russian missile.

“Everything indicates that a Russian missile intruded in Poland’s airspace. It was monitored by us on radars and left the airspace. We have confirmation of this on radars and from allies” in NATO, said Poland’s armed forces chief, Gen. Wiesław Kukuła.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s political battle over state media continued Wednesday as the president filed a revised spending bill in defiance of the new pro-European Union government ‘s goal of freeing the media from political control.

President Andrzej Duda, an ally of the previous right-wing government, had vetoed the new government’s bill that provided 3 billion zlotys ($762 million) for the public media. His proposed bill strips that funding out.

WARSAW, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Poland's Culture Minister sacked the heads of three state media outlets on Wednesday, leading to protests from the conservatives.

The dismissals came one week after the new government led by Donald Tusk took power from the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, following the country's parliamentary elections.

In a statement, the Culture Ministry justified the move with a parliamentary resolution adopted on Tuesday, which called on the government to "restore the impartiality and credibility of public media."

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — New Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Tuesday that his government will mobilize to keep the world committed to helping Ukraine.

Tusk said it hurts him to hear that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has to keep trying to persuade world leaders about the need to continue supporting Kyiv’s struggle against Russian aggression.

He said it will be a priority for his coalition government to persuade leaders that they need to continue to help Ukraine defend itself, and that is also in the interests of the free world.

WARSAW, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Poland's Constitutional Tribunal said on Tuesday that penalties imposed by the European Union's top court before it reaches a final ruling, known as interim measures, are not compatible with the Polish constitution, escalating a row over the rule of law.

The ruling comes after the nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party, which has been embroiled in numerous conflicts with Brussels since coming to power in 2015, lost its majority in parliament in an Oct. 15 election.

WARSAW, Nov 28 (NNN-XINHUA) – Poland’s new government, led by Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, was sworn in yesterday. Morawiecki’s cabinet is now subject to approval by the country’s lower house of parliament (Sejm), within the next two weeks.

In the afternoon, Morawiecki submitted a proposal to President Andrzej Duda, for the formation of a new Council of Ministers. According to a government spokesperson, the cabinet includes experts who have not previously held political positions, as well as, politicians specialising in specific areas.

WARSAW, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Polish truckers and farmers on Monday started a round-the-clock blockade of access to one of the busiest border crossings with Ukraine, extending a protest that has left over a thousand lorries stranded for days in queues that stretch for miles.

The truckers, now blocking the Medyka crossing as well as three other border crossings, complain they are losing out to Ukrainian companies which offer cheaper prices for their services and which are transporting goods within the European Union, rather than just between the bloc and Ukraine.

WARSAW, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Poland's parliament met for the first time on Monday since an election in which an alliance of pro-European Union parties won a majority, heralding a new start for Polish politics.

President Andrzej Duda has asked Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to form a new government, but he has almost no chance of doing so. His nationalist Law and Justice party (PiS) lost its majority in last month's election and all other parties have ruled out working with it.
