Russian Black Sea Fleet forces hold anti-submarine warfare drills

SEVASTOPOL, May 19. /TASS/: The Black Sea Fleet ships and submarines searched for a notional enemy’s subs during drills, the Fleet’s press office reported on Tuesday.

"The crews of the diesel-electric submarines Rostov-on-Don and Kolpino of the Black Sea Fleet deployed to the sea for joint drills to search for and detect a notional enemy’s submarine. Under the combat training scenario, one of the submarines simulated an enemy sub while the crew of the second vessel searched for it," the press office said in a statement.

Moscow, Moscow Region reach coronavirus spread plateau, expert says

MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/: The coronavirus spread situation in Russia is stabilizing. Moscow and the Moscow Region have reached the plateau on incidence statistics, says Yevgeny Timakov, chief physician of the "Lider Meditsiny" medical center, a pediatrician, infectologist and a vaccinologist.

"The situation [in Russia] is stabilizing. It is currently mostly stabilizing in Moscow and the Moscow Region," he said. "One could say that Moscow has reached the so-called plateau, both Moscow and the Moscow Region," he said on TV Tuesday.

Russian prime minister resumes duties after recovering from coronavirus

MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who had been admitted to hospital with COVID-19, has resumed his duties, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday.

Mishustin held several meetings in the format of a video conference while he was in hospital. Earlier reports said the prime minister was recovering and would be soon discharged from hospital. On Monday, the prime minister held meetings while in hospital.

Russia reports less than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases for fourth day in a row

MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/: The number of coronavirus cases in Russia has risen by 9,263 over the past day and the daily growth in cases has not exceeded 10,000 for the fourth day in a row, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Tuesday.

To date, 299,941 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in all Russian regions.

According to the crisis center, the daily growth rate stood at a record low level of 3.2% like the day earlier.

Russian Defense Ministry experts to help combat coronavirus in Krasnoyarsk region

MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/: Russia’s Defense Ministry will send its experts to the Krasnoyarsk region to help combat a coronavirus outbreak, the ministry said on Monday.

Military experts will carry out disinfecting activities, set up a 1,000-bed makeshift hospital and treat coronavirus patients.

The Defense Ministry’s team will consist of 200 military servicemen, including 77 doctors and nurses. The team, as well as 100 units of special equipment, will be deployed to the Krasnoyarsk region at the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Most of COVID patients have blood type A, says Russian health official

MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/: Most of coronavirus patients have blood type A, while those having blood type AB are the fewest, chief of Russia’s Federal Medical Biological Agency Veronika Skvortsova said on Friday.

"An interesting fact that was noted by foreign specialists and has been verified by the Agency’s centers. The overwhelming majority of those infected have blood type A," she said at an online news conference organized by TASS. "Next are types O and B. And, indeed, the rarest is type AB."

Russian doctors not trying to hide COVID-19 cases, deputy PM says

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/: Doctors at Russian hospitals are not trying to conceal data on COVID-19 cases and are instead interested in high performance in battling the infection for financial reasons, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova told Vesti Nedeli program on Rossiya-1 TV channel on Sunday.

"One should not even think that our doctors are trying to somehow conceal [the disease caused by] COVID. This is not about our doctors and I can definitely say that," Golikova stressed.
