India: Himachal CM his family members and staffers to remain quarantined for 1 week

Shimla, Jul 23 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, his family members and staffers at his residence and office will remain under home quarantine for a week despite testing negative for COVID-19, a senior official said on Thursday.

Thirty-six samples were taken from Thakur's residence at Oakover here and 27 from the state secretariat on Wednesday after a deputy secretary at his office and a BJP leader from Mandi tested positive for COVID-19.

India: MP minister tests coronavirus positive

Bhopal, Jul 23 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Co-operatives Minister Arvind Singh Bhadoriya on Thursday said he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a video message, Bhadoriya said he did not experience any symptoms of the viral infection.

"I just had sore throat. I went for the test. My report came at 12.30 am. I rushed to the hospital and got admitted," he said, and asked those who came in contact with him to get themselves tested.

India: Priyanka urges govt to provide all help to family of doctor who died of COVID-19

New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday urged the government to provide all assistance to the family of a doctor, who died after contracting COVID-19 while working with Delhi's National Health Mission.

Javed Ali, a contractual doctor with Delhi government's National Health Mission, died on Monday of coronavirus. Ali had been on the frontline in the fight against coronavirus since March.

India: Three-day lockdown in some Bhopal areas from tomorrow

Bhopal, Jul 21 (PTI) There would be a lock-down in some areas of Bhopal from Tuesday midnight to July 24, district officials said.

The decision was taken in view of a sudden spike in coronavirus cases in Bhopal during the past fortnight, they said.

The lockdown will be applicable in several localities in Old Bhopal under Kotwali, Mangalwara and Hanumanganj police station areas, some areas of Bagsewania area under Kolar sub- division, and some areas of Kamla Nagar police station.

India: COVID-19 tally climbs to 1,192,915

New Delhi, July 22 (PTI) India added?37,724 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday taking the country's tally to 1,192,915, while recoveries surged to 753,049 with 28,472 people having recuperated in a day, the highest so far, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The death toll due to the disease rose to 28,732? with 648 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

U.S. economy at risk of double-dip recession amid COVID-19 resurgence

S Korea's new virus cases bounce back after drop

Seoul, Jul 21 (AP/PTI) South Korea's new virus cases have bounced back to above 40, a day after it reported its smallest daily jump in local COVID-19 transmissions in two months.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday it has reported 45 additional coronavirus cases over a 24-hour period.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman admitted to hospital for tests

Dubai, Jul 20 (AP/PTI) Saudi Arabia's King Salman has been admitted to a hospital in the capital, Riyadh, for medical tests due to inflammation of the gallbladder, the kingdom's Royal Court said Monday in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The statement said the 84-year-old monarch is being tested at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital.

The brief statement did not provide further details.
