6.4 magnitude earthquake in western Iran - Over 600 injured

TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least 634 people were injured in the magnitude-6.4 earthquake that hit Kermanshah province in western Iran on Sunday, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

There has been no death report in the quake so far, the report quoted Mahamoud Reza, president of Medical Science University of Kermanshah province, as saying.

Iran issues e-visa to attract foreign tourists

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Iran has begun to issue electronic visas for attracting more foreign tourists, Press TV reported on Saturday.

The plan has been implemented since Thursday, Nov. 22, Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Ali Asghar Mounesan, was quoted as saying.

The plan is mainly aimed at facilitating travels to Iran by foreign tourists, Mounesan said.

He expressed hope that the move could play a leading role in attracting more foreign tourists to the country.

Iran, Iraq to sign currency swap deal to facilitate trade

TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran and Iraq are in talks to finalize a currency swap agreement in a bid to boost trade ties between the two neighboring countries, a trade official was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency on Sunday.

Iraq is a lucrative market for Iranian goods, and Iranian exports to the Arab country have increased by 30 percent over the past seven months, Yahya Ale-Eshaq, chairman of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce said.

In the mentioned period, goods worth about 6 billion U.S. dollars have been exported from Iran to Iraq, Ale-Eshaq said.

Iran urges global condemnation of U.S. sanctions

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's ambassador to the United Nations urged global condemnation of the recent U.S. unilateral sanctions against the Islamic republic, Press TV reported on Saturday.

"U.S. unilateral withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal and restoration of its sanctions on Iran is a challenge to the international law and global order," Gholamali Khoshroo said in a letter to the UN Security Council on Friday.

The global community "should not allow the United States to pursue its unilateral, arrogant and self-centered policy," he said.

Iran will 'proudly bypass' US sanctions: Rouhani

Tehran, Nov 5 (AFP) Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic republic "will proudly bypass sanctions" by the United States that took effect on Monday targeting the country's oil and financial sectors.

"I announce that we will proudly bypass your illegal, unjust sanctions because it's against international regulations," Rouhani said in a televised speech.

Iran strongly condemns U.S. restoration of sanctions

TEHRAN, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed on Saturday the U.S. fresh sanctions on Iran as the failed experience, official IRNA news agency reported.

The U.S. has sought "to cripple and hold back Iran's economy" by resorting to sanctions, "but the outcome is that the country moves broadly towards self-sufficiency," Khamenei was quoted as saying.

"In the past, Iranians had become accustomed to importing everything, but now, they are used to producing those things," he said.

Iran says U.S. unable to stop its oil exports

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran's First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri said Sunday that Iran is prepared to frustrate U.S. Nov. 4 sanctions on its crude exports.

The Iranian government has prepared plans to counter the impacts of returning U.S. sanctions by maintaining oil exports above one million barrels per day, Jahangiri was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Iran expects its oil exports won’t be less than 1 million barrels per day

TASS, October 28. Tehran expects that the US sanctions won’t reduce its oil exports to the level of less than 1 million barrels per day, First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Sunday, according to the IRNA news agency.

Over the past months, Iran has been exporting 2.5 million barrels of oil per day, Jahangiri said. The US cannot halt Iranian oil exports as there is no substitution for them on the market, he noted.

Iran's parliament approves 4 proposed ministers to reshuffle cabinet

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian parliament on Saturday approved all four ministers proposed by President Hassan Rouhani to reshuffle his cabinet.

Mohammad Eslami became the minister of transport and urban development with 151 votes in favor and Mohammad Shariatmadari got 196 votes to become the minister of cooperative, labor, and social welfare.

Farhad Dejpasand received 200 votes in favor to be the minister of economy and Reza Rahmani was approved by 203 votes as the minister of industry, mine and trade.
