India: Spanish woman raped in Gurgaon, accused arrested

Gurgaon, June 15 (PTI) A 23-year-old Spanish woman was allegedly raped in DLF phase 1 here by a man who befriended her on social media, police said on Saturday.

The woman reached Guragon from Spain a couple of weeks ago to get internship with a multinational company. She was looking for a rented accommodation and had shared a post on Facebook in this regard.

The accused, Ajanya Nath, a resident of Anand Vihar in Delhi contacted her over Facebook and offered assistance in finding a rented flat.

India: Two held for allegedly molesting minor girl

Gurgaon, May 30 (PTI) The Gurgaon police has arrested two persons for allegedly molesting a minor girl after inviting her to a birthday party, a police officer said on Thursday.

Aman and Ashutosh, both 26, were arrested from Ashok Vihar area, where they were hiding, on Wednesday night under the POCSO Act, Gurgaon police PRO Subhash Bokan said.

During interrogation, Aman disclosed that he is unmarried and runs a cab.

India: Armed men attack police, free convict in Karnal, Haryana

Chandigarh, May 28 (PTI) Three motorcycle-borne men opened fire at police personnel in Karnal Tuesday and managed to free from custody a convict they were transporting from a court, officials said.

The daring daylight raid took place when the police party was transporting the convict to Yamunanagar from Karnal after a hearing. Two policemen were injured in the attack, they said.

India: Man beaten up in Gurgaon for wearing skull cap

Gurgaon, May 26 (PTI) A 25-year-old Muslim man was allegedly assaulted here by four unidentified youths for wearing a traditional skull cap, a police official said.

The victim was identified as Mohamad Barker Alam, a native of Bihar, living here in Jakob Pura area of Gurgaon.

In a complaint to police on Sunday, Alam alleged that four unidentified youths accosted him in a Sadar Bazar lane and objected to him for wearing a skull cap.

Delhi owes Haryana Rs 100 crore in water bills: Khattar

Chandigarh, May 21 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Tuesday the Delhi government owed his state Rs 100 crore for Yamuna water supplied to the national capital since 1995.

"We have been regularly writing to Delhi government for payment but without any success, Khattar told reporters at a press conference here.

He said Haryana government officers have been taking up this issue with their Delhi counterparts during meetings.

India: 13-yr-old raped by three youths in Ambala

Ambala (Har), May 17 (PTI) A 13-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped at knifepoint by three youths here, police said Friday.

The police have booked the three accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and also charged them with abducting the minor.

Police said the girl had gone to a local market to purchase items of daily need on Wednesday, but did not return till late evening. She reached her home the next day.

India: Three selfie-crazy youths crushed by train

Chandigarh, May 1 (PTI) Three youths killed when they were clicking selfies on a railway track, about 2-3 km from Panipat railway station in Haryana, a senior Government Railway Police (GRP) official said on Wednesday.

They were clicking selfies on the track between Panipat and Babarpur railway stations on the Delhi-Ambala route on Monday evening, he said.

India: Man raped 8-year-old daughter repeatedly after wife died

Gurgaon, April 29(PTI) A man has been arrested in Haryana's Gurgaon for allegedly raping his eight-year-old daughter repeatedly over several months, police said Monday.

The man was arrested after neighbours found out about the horror from the girl, who studies in class four, police said.

The girl was not behaving normally over the past few days and when neighbours started asking her about it she told them about the sexual exploitation, ACP (crime) Shamsher Singh said.

India: Cop beaten to death in Haryana

Ambala, Apr 13 (PTI) A 28-year-old police constable was allegedly beaten to death by some unidentified men here, police said Saturday.

The constable, Avtar Singh, a resident of Panjokhra village near Ambala city, was deployed at the ADGP office in Ambala Cantt, they said.

Six men beat up Avtar and left him in an unconscious state at a crossing near Baldev Nagar on Friday, according to police.

Samjhauta case: Terrorists remained unpunished for want of evidence

Panchkula (Hry), Mar 28; PTI/GANASHAKTI: A special court here, which had acquitted Swami Aseemanand and three others in the Samjhauta Express blast case, has said a dastardly act of violence remained unpunished for want of credible and admissible evidence.

All the four accused -- Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanand, Lokesh Sharma, Kamal Chauhan and Rajinder Chaudhary -- had been acquitted by the court here on March 20.
