India: BJP party of liars; Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Jun 19 (PTI) Samajwadi Party (SP) National president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday alleged that all BJP leaders including the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister begin and end their talk with a lie.

Yadav's statement came after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a rally in Azamgarh, where he alleged that Yadav betrayed people of Azamgarh and obstructed its development and supported criminals.

Flight of FPIs continues; equities worth Rs 31,430 crore sold in June so far

New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) Aggressive rate hike by the US Federal Reserve, coupled with elevated inflation and high valuation of equities continued to keep foreign investors at bay from the Indian stock market as they pulled out Rs 31,430 crore in this month so far.

With this, net outflow by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) from equities reached Rs 1.98 lakh crore so far in 2022, data with depositories showed.

Indian Govt asks employees to opt for lowest air fare, book tickets 21-days before travel

New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) The Finance Ministry has asked government employees to opt for 'cheapest fare available' on their entitled travel class and book air tickets at least three weeks prior to their date of travel for tours and LTC, as it looks to cut down on unnecessary expenditure.

The Ministry further said that employees should book only one ticket for each leg of intended travel, make bookings even if approval of the tour programme is under process and also avoid "unnecessary cancellations".

Indian man kills wife for not serving food, sleeps with corpse

New Delhi, Jun 18 (PTI) A man allegedly killed his wife following an argument that erupted as she refused to serve him food after both of them had alcohol together and later slept with the body not realising that she was dead, police said on Saturday.

The next morning, upon realising that he had killed his wife, the man fled with over Rs 40,000 cash. He was, however, tracked down and arrested from another location in Delhi, they said.

Indian Air Force releases detailed note on Agnipath scheme

New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) The Indian Air Force on Sunday came out with details of the Agnipath scheme for short-term induction of soldiers amid widespread protests in several states by defence job aspirants demanding the withdrawal of the new model.

In its note on the scheme, the IAF described Agnipath as a new human resources management scheme for the armed forces and said a candidate enrolled in the force will be governed by the Air Force Act, 1950.

New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) Amid widespread protests against the Agnipath military recruitment scheme in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday said there were many doubts about the scheme in the minds of the youth and demanded that it be withdrawn.

Addressing a press conference here, he asked whether this was a MGNREGA-like initiative for the educated youth or there was a "hidden agenda" of the RSS in it.

Daily COVID-19 Cases Surpass 13,000-Mark In India

NEW DELHI, Jun 18 (NNN-PTI) – The number of new COVID-19 cases registered per day in India, continues to rise steeply, with the figure surpassing the 13,000-mark today.

According to the data, released by the federal health ministry, as many as 13,216 new cases were registered across India in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,283,793.

Most cases were reported from the states of Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi, the ministry’s data showed.

A day ago, 12,213 new cases were registered in India.

32 killed in floods in India's Assam, Meghalaya

NEW DELHI, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Floods in two northeastern states of India, Assam and Meghalaya, have killed 32 people in the past two days, officials said Saturday.

According to an Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin, 13 people were killed in the state, while over 1.8 million people were affected by the ongoing flooding in 28 districts.

Officials at the State Disaster Management Authority of Meghalaya (SDMAM) said 19 people were killed in the state in two days.
