India: 6 people booked for woman's rape in Haryana

Faridabad, Apr 23 (PTI) Five men and a woman have been booked for alleged rape of a security company employee, police here said on Saturday.

The complainant accused her colleague of tricking her and getting raped by five men in 2020, they said.

According to police, the woman allegedly kept silent all these years as the accused had shot a video of her and blackmailed her with it.

India: 12-year-old boy kidnapped in UP's Basti, Rs 50 lakh ransom demanded

Basti (UP), Apr 24 (PTI) A 12-year-old boy has allegedly been kidnapped and a ransom of Rs 50 lakh demanded from his parents, police said on Sunday.

An FIR was registered by Ashok Kumar Gupta at the Rudhauli police station on Saturday, alleging that his son Akhand Kumar Kasaudhan had gone to purchase vegetables and was kidnapped, they said.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Srivastava said an unidentified person took away the boy on his bike.

India: SP MLA not allowed to meet Azam Khan in jail

Sitapur (UP), Apr 24 (PTI) Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra on Sunday alleged that he was not allowed to meet senior party leader Azam Khan who is lodged in the district jail here.

Mehrotra also alleged that Khan might be killed inside the Sitapur Jail.

"Jail administration did not allow me to meet Azam Khan and I was told he is unwell and is sleeping," Mehrotra told reporters outside the district jail.

India: Babbar Khalsa terrorist arrested in Punjab's Mohali

Chandigarh, Apr 24 (PTI) The Punjab Police on Sunday nabbed a Babbar Khalsa terrorist, who has been evading arrest for the past 12 years and wanted in the Ludhiana's Shingar cinema bomb blast and other cases.

Charanjit Singh, alias Patialavi, was arrested from Mohali's Dera Bassi by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police.

India, UK decide to deepen defence, trade ties

New Delhi, Apr 22 (PTI) In the backdrop of the rapid geopolitical turmoil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson on Friday agreed on a new and expanded India-UK defence partnership and vowed to seal an ambitious free trade agreement by the end of the year.

After his wide-ranging talks with Modi on the second and final day of his India visit, Johnson said the UK is creating an Open General Export Licence (OGEL) for India to "reduce bureaucracy and slashing delivery times" for defence procurement.

India: Girl's body exhumed in UP village after foul play suspected

Banda, Apr 22 (PTI) The body of a 17-year-old girl was exhumed for post mortem a day after she was buried, authorities here said on Friday.

The girl was buried on Wednesday after she died in mysterious circumstances in Gurha Kala village under Naraini Police Station area, they said.

India: Woman molested in moving rickshaw in MP

Bhopal, Apr 23 (PTI) A 20-year-old woman was allegedly molested by her two co-passengers in a shared autorickshaw here, following which police have registered an offence against three persons, including its driver, an official said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, he said.

"The woman hired a shared auto-rickshaw to reach her home in Ashoka Garden area from the coaching class located in MP Nagar area," Aishbagh police station in-charge Manishraj Singh Bhadoria said.

India: 28 hectares of govt land vacated within 20 days in Kanpur

Kanpur: In the past 20 days, as many as 28 hectares of government land worth Rs 320 crore has been cleared.The land was vacated between April 1 and 20.

11.5346 hectare land worth Rs 312.50 crore of KDA, 14.407 hectares of land worth Rs 3.06 crores of Revenue Department, 0.5400 hectare land of Bilhaur tehsil worth Rs 2.97 crore, 1.666 hectares of land worth Rs 1.56 crore in Ghatampur.

The largest share is of KDA. After this, encroachments have been removed from government land in Revenue Department, Ghatampur and Bilhaur Tehsils.

India: Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi Masjid issue: HC dismisses plea challenging civil court order

Allahabad, Apr 21 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Thursday dismissed the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid's plea challenging a Varanasi court's order to appoint an advocate as a court commissioner to inspect the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir-Gyanvapi Masjid complex.

It also dismissed the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid's plea against the civil court's another order by which it restrained interference in the worship of deities at the Visheswar Nath Mahadev Mandir in Varanasi.
