India: Assam gets cow ambulance service

Dibrugarh (Assam), Apr 30 (PTI) An ambulance service for sick and injured cows was inaugurated in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

The service, to be run by Gopal Gaushala, was inaugurated by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu on Friday.

The 'gaushala' or chow shelter had also set up a hospital for cows here in 2020.

India: BJP conspiring to divide Hindus in Maha, says Uddhav

Mumbai, Apr 30 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday accused the BJP of conspiring to divide Hindus in the state.

Thackeray made the comments during his online address to Shiv Sena's district chiefs from Konkan region, and from western and north Maharashtra, according to the points shared by the party from his speech.

Without naming the BJP, Thackeray alleged that it was trying to paint Maharashtra as "anti-Hindu" as it allegedly did in the cases of West Bengal and Kerala - both non-BJP ruled states.

Kanpur: The weather reports said that there has been no rain in the district since February.

In the previous years, usually, the pre-monsoon activities began with a surge in heat. Light rain at an interval of a few days brought a feeling of relief.

The month of March was considered the hottest in the last 121 years.

Now the month of April has also been untouched by monsoon activities.

India: Bill to make TN CM Chancellor of Siddha varsity passed

Chennai, Apr 28 (PTI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Thursday passed a Bill to establish a Siddha Medical University in the state, of which Chief Minister M K Stalin will be Chancellor.

In his capacity as Chancellor of the varsity, the Chief Minister will appoint the Vice Chancellor from a list of three names shortlisted by the search committee. Health and Family Welfare Minister will be the Pro-Chancellor, as per the Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical University Act, 2022.

India: 89 swords seized from SUV in Maha; 4 held

Mumbai/Jalna, Apr 28 (PTI) Police have seized 89 swords and a dagger from an SUV in Maharashtra's Dhule district and arrested four people in this connection, an official said Thursday.

A police team intercepted the vehicle after chasing it on Wednesday near Songir Phata in Shirpur area while it was heading towards Dhule city, located over 300 km from Mumbai, he said.

During a search, the police found 89 swords and a dagger inside the SUV in which four persons were travelling, Dhule Superintendent of Police Pravinkumar Patil said.

India: Scuffle between Hindutva elements and Noida cops

Noida, Apr 28 (PTI) A scuffle broke out between police personnel and Vishwa Hindu Parishad-Bajrang Dal activists in Uttar Pradesh's Noida on Thursday, leading to a brief detention of some members of the right-wing organisations, officials said.

A policeman was injured in the scuffle that took place in the afternoon after the right-wing activists, including their office-bearers, reached the Sector 39 police station in connection with a rape case involving a minor girl and a boy, they said.

Lucknow, Apr 28 (PTI) BSP supremo Mayawati on Thursday trashed SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's remark suggesting that the BJP could make her the President, saying she would prefer becoming the country's prime minister someday to realise her goals for the downtrodden.

Reacting to the dig at her on Wednesday, Mayawati said she never aspired to be the President and the Samajwadi Party leader was dreaming about it only to clear his own path to become the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

India: Tripura CM urges B'desh IT firms to invest in state

Agartala, Apr 29 (PTI) Noting that bilateral trade and connectivity are crucial for sustainable economic development of both India and Bangladesh, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has urged IT companies in the neighbouring country to invest in his state.

Deb, during the first edition of 'Digital Bangladesh IT Summit-2022' on Thursday, also said here that he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to introduce direct international flights to Dhaka, Chittagong, Singapore and Bangkok from state capital Agartala.
