Chitradurga (KTK), Aug 3 (PTI) Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday got initiated into the Lingayat sect by the seer of Muruga Mutt in this district headquarters town in central Karnataka in the presence of various party leaders.

After a conversation with Lingayat seers of various mutts, the seer of Muruga Mutt, Shivamurthy Muruga Sharana initiated Gandhi into Lingayat sect.

India: Cong, Shiv Sena not allowed to raise misuse of probe agencies in RS

India: Feral dogs kill 55 sheeps in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: As many as 55 sheeps were killed in a village of Dehat district. Fear of stray dogs is spread throughout the village.

According to the information, stray dogs entered the sheep's shed and killed 55 sheep.

The sheep rearing farmer has informed the district administration about this incident. The victim shepherd is in shock after the death of his 55 sheep.

India Reported Sixth Monkeypox Case

NEW DELHI, Aug 2 (NNN-PTI) – India recorded its sixth monkeypox case, which is the second case in the national capital, late yesterday, a health department official in Delhi confirmed, today.

The patient is said to be a Nigerian national, with no recent travel history. He was admitted to a government-run hospital for treatment of the viral infection.

According to a report by The Hindu newspaper, the patient is in his thirties and has been living in Delhi for around one year.

India: ED raids National Herald newspaper assets in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 2 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided a dozen locations including the head office of the Congress party-owned National Herald newspaper here as part of an ongoing money laundering probe, officials said.

They said the searches are being carried out under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to "gather additional evidences with regard to the trail of funds".

India: Class V student dies of electrocution in Kanpur's village

Kanpur: A Class V student died of electrocution in Gajner's Seruva village here on Monday.

He was staying at his maternal home. The relatives who reached the information took the dead body to Tajpur Pali village of Narwal.

Aryan (13) son of Sushil resident of Tajpur Pali village of Narwal area in Kanpur Nagar lived in the house of Nana Bhola Paswan in Seruva village.

He was a student of class V in the primary school of the village.

According to family members, Aryan did not go to school on Monday.

India confirms Asia's first monkeypox death

KOCHI, India, Aug 1 (Reuters) - India confirmed its first monkeypox death on Monday, a young man in the southern state of Kerala, in what is only the fourth known fatality from the disease in the current outbreak.

India: Ex-IPS officer Krishna Prasad likely to join BJP

Hyderabad, July 29 (PTI) Former IPS officer T Krishna Prasad is in talks with the BJP top brass and is likely to join the saffron party soon, sources said on Friday.

The 1987-batch IPS officer retired in DGP rank in 2020 is currently running an NGO, which aims to bring cheers to the marginal sections of the society.

Gonda (UP), Jul 29 (PTI) A man here was booked for allegedly raping a middle-aged woman on the pretext of marriage, police said on Friday

The woman in her complaint alleged that the accused had been raping her for the last three years with a promise of marriage and threatened to kill her when she pressurised him for marriage, Station House Officer (Nawabganj) Tej Pratap Singh said.
