India: Air pollutants restrict walking capacity during daytime, feel strollers

Kanpur: We can cover a distance of above two to three kilometres in the morning time. How is it possible in the early morning? This is as simple as two plus one turns three literally.

Morning walkers even agree with this norm. The two walkers taking a morning walk from Jajmau Nai Chungi to JK Colony onwards in the Jajmau area were overheard saying so.

As we know the comparatively atmospheric air in Jajmau remains a little bit fresh at that time so we do not feel enough trouble in completing that much distance easily.

India: Too much pollution pervades in Jajmau air, says leather professional

In search of puffing fresh air he went up above the fifth storey of his building but what broke the spell was the prevalence of dusty, filthy air. It was extremely unbearable for him.

Therefore he decided to walk in the serene air available on the Cantonment area spanning from the Golf Course to the second gate opening towards the Mall Road side here.

UN: Climate change to uproot millions, especially in Asia

Jakarta, Mar 3 (AP) The walls of Saifullah's home in northern Jakarta are lined like tree rings, marking how high the floodwaters have reached each year some more than 4 feet from the damp dirt floor.

When the water gets too high, Saifullah, who like many Indonesians only uses one name, sends his family to stay with friends. He guards the house until the water can be drained using a makeshift pump. If the pump stops working, he uses a bucket or just waits until the water recedes.

It's a normal thing here, Saifullah, 73, said. But this is our home. Where should we go?"
