S.Korean to do all it can for DPRK-U.S. denuke talks: president

SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Monday that his country will do all it can for the denuclearization talks between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States.

Moon made the remarks during a weekly meeting with his senior secretaries, saying the working-level talks between Pyongyang and Washington will resume soon.

Moon noted that his government will do whatever it can to open a future of co-prosperity with the peace settlement and the peace economy on the Korean Peninsula.

Hong Kong govt: Violence is harmful, won’t solve divisions

HONG KONG (AP) — Hong Kong’s government reiterated that violence is not the solution after an unapproved march descended into chaos with police firing tear gas and water cannons after demonstrators lobbed Molotov cocktails at government buildings, blocked traffic and set fires.

The government in a statement late Sunday said violence would only harm the community and it was sincerely trying to solve problems.

New Delhi, Sep 15 (PTI) Singapore is looking at continuing the four year trend of having over a million visitor arrivals from India in the current year as it undertakes a number of measures to hard sell the country as a preferred destination.

India is currently the third largest source market for visitor arrivals to Singapore, a senior tourism board official said.

Thailand says no impact on oil imports following Saudi attacks

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand’s energy minister said on Sunday the drone attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the world’s top exporter, would have no impact on Thai oil imports.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group claimed responsibility for Saturday’s drone attacks on two facilities of state-run oil company Saudi Aramco at the heart of the kingdom’s oil industry, knocking out more than half of Saudi oil output.

Aramco, whose CEO said the situation had been brought under control, has contracts with Thailand’s state-controlled PTT Pcl.

Hong Kong police fire tear gas, water cannon at petrol-bomb throwing protesters

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong police fired water cannon and volleys of tear gas to break up protesters throwing petrol bombs near the Legislative Council building and inside the Central Government Offices on Sunday, the latest in weeks of sometimes violent unrest.

Some protesters threw bricks at police outside the nearby Chinese People’s Liberation Army base in the Admiralty district of the city and tore down and set fire to a red banner proclaiming the 70th anniversary on Oct. 1 of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Skirmishes break out in Hong Kong mall amid counter rallies

HONG KONG (AP) — Supporters of the ongoing protests for democratic reforms in Hong Kong have clashed with supporters of the central government at a shopping mall in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory.

Hundreds of pro-Beijing demonstrators waved Chinese flags and chanted slogans Saturday at Amoy Plaza in the densely packed Kowloon district. Counter protesters quickly gathered there, sparking tension as the two camps heckled each other.

Yemenis will be able to work legally in Malaysia soon

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Ten thousand Yemeni citizens holding social visit pass in Malaysia would be able to work under certain requirements which would be finalised soon, said Yemen’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Adel Mohamed BaHamid.

The envoy said this is part of the programmes held in collaboration with the Malaysian government to render humanitarian assistance to Yemenis, whose home country is ravaged by war.
