Russia records 8,115 new daily coronavirus cases

MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus cases rose by 8,115 to 4,896,842 in the past day, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Tuesday.

According to data from the crisis center, the coronavirus growth rate stands at 0.17%.

The rate is the lowest in the Altai and Magadan regions (0.02%) and the Tuva region (0.03%).

In particular, 717 coronavirus cases were reported in St. Petersburg in the past day, 657 in the Moscow Region, 205 in the Rostov Region, 132 in the Voronezh Region and 124 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Putin submits legislation on Russian withdrawal from Open Skies treaty

(Reuters) --- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday submitted legislation to parliament to formalise a Russian exit from the Open Skies treaty, a pact that allows unarmed surveillance flights over member countries.

The United States left the Open Skies arms control and verification treaty in November in one of Donald Trump's final acts as president. Washington accused Russia of violating it, something Moscow denied. Russia said in January it would also withdraw from the treaty. 

Russia: Moscow says Putin and Biden should talk arms control at possible summit

(Reuters) --- Russia has proposed discussing arms control and security issues at a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

Lavrov said Russia was still waiting for answers from Washington on a proposed summit between the two leaders, and that Moscow had proposed that strategic nuclear stability, both offensive and defensive, be high on the agenda.

Russian media: 11 killed in a school shooting in Kazan

MOSCOW (AP) — A school shooting erupted Tuesday in the Russian city of Kazan, leaving 11 people dead and four wounded, Russia’s state RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing emergency services.

According to the Interfax news agency, two gunmen opened fire in the school, and one of them — a 17-year-old — was apprehended. Local officials said some children were evacuated from the school but others still remained in the building.

Russia: Putin plans to attend SPIEF plenary session in person - Kremlin

MOSCOW, May 10. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to take part in the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in person, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Monday.

"It is planned in person," he said answering a corresponding question.

Earlier on Monday, Putin said that he had developed a good level of antibodies after receiving a coronavirus vaccine.

Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia rises by 8,465 per day

MOSCOW, May 10. /TASS/: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia increased by 8,465 per day to 4,888,727, the federal operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus told reporters on Monday.

In relative terms, the increase in the number of cases was 0.17%.

The lowest growth rates over the day were recorded in the Altai Republic (0.02%), in the Tyva Republic, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khabarovsk Territory (0.04%).

Situation with coronavirus stable in Russia - Putin

SOCHI, May 10. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia remains stable, he told reporters on Monday.

"The situation in the country, according to experts, remains stable," Putin said. He noted that the figures are well known. According to the statistics cited by him, around 8,000 cases are detected every day.

Russia: Missing Siberian doctor who treated Kremlin critic Navalny reappears after 3 days -agencies

(Reuters) --- A Siberian doctor who treated poisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny last year reappeared on Monday after being reported missing while on a hunting trip, Russian news agencies cited the regional government as saying.

A search was launched in the forests of the Omsk region, about 2,200 km (1,370 miles) east of Moscow, after physician Alexander Murakhovsky left a forest hunting base in an all-terrain vehicle on Friday. 

Debris of missing Mi-2 helicopter found in Russia’s Far East

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, May 9. /TASS/: Rescuers in Kamchatka, in Russia’s Far East, have discovered a burnt debris of the Mi-2 helicopter that went missing on May 8, the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.

"The debris of the helicopter was found in the forest area of the Chapayevka village. There is no data on the fate of the passenger and the crew. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated," the ministry reported.

Russia reports 8,419 new coronavirus cases in past day

MOSCOW, May 9. /TASS/: New confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 8,419 in the past twenty-four hours to 4,880,262, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday. The coronavirus growth rate equaled 0.17%, the latest data show.

The slowest coronavirus growth rates were registered in the Republic of Altai (0.02%) and in the Republic of Tyva (0.03%) in the past day, the latest data show.
