DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) — The world is in a “sorry state” because of myriad interlinked challenges including climate change and Russia’s war in Ukraine that are “piling up like cars in a chain reaction crash,” the U.N. chief said at the World Economic Forum’s meeting Wednesday.

Saudi FM says Riyadh trying to find path to dialogue with Iran

Switzerland: German chancellor dodges question on Leopard tank deliveries to Ukraine

GENEVA, January 17. /TASS/: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos did not directly answer a question as to whether his country will allow delivering its Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

"We are supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary with all the means that we can use," Scholz said, adding that the aim is to "avoid that this is going to be a war between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization."

UN urges charges dropped in Greek migrant rescue trial

GENEVA, Jan 14 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The United Nations on Friday urged all charges to be dropped in a long-delayed Greek trial of 24 migrant rescue workers accused of espionage, including prominent Syrian swimmer Sarah Mardini.

“Trials like these are deeply concerning because they criminalise life-saving work and set a dangerous precedent,” UN rights office spokeswoman Liz Throssell told reporters.
