20 June 2020; MEMO: The Libyan army said Saturday 190 corpses have been found in mass graves south of Tripoli and the city of Tarhuna since June 5, reports Anadolu Agency.

In a statement, the army said 106 bodies, including children and women, were found with signs of torture inside a hospital morgue in Tarhuna on June 5.

19 June 2020; MEMO: “The ongoing negotiations between Turkey and Russia on the Libyan file are based on the principles recognised by the High Council of State and the Government of National Accord (GNA),” the Chairman of the High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, said on Wednesday.

The official added that there are ongoing and open talks between Turkey and Russia, adding that “we have clarified our principles that [renegade General] Khalifa Haftar will have no role in any way or at any stage”.

TRIPOLI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Support Mission in Libyan (UNSMIL) on Thursday called for the release of a Libyan activist in the eastern city of Benghazi.

"UNSMIL expresses its dismay regarding the ongoing arrest and detention in Benghazi for the past week of Mr. Khalid Sakran apparently on account of his peace activism," UNSMIL tweeted.

18 June 2020; MEMO: The Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya and Prime Minister of the internationally- recognised Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, has called on the United Nations to provide his government with “technical assistance” to gather evidence and document violations committed by militias affiliated with renegade General Khalifa Haftar.

12 June 2020; MEMO: The Libyan army of the internationally backed Government of National Accord (GNA) announced yesterday that it had taken control of a major supply line used by militias loyal to opposition figure Khalifa Haftar.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the army said: “Full control of a main supply line … between southern and western Libya which has been used throughout the year by the terrorist Haftar militia.”

TRIPOLI, June 11 (NNN-Xinhua) — Dozens of mass graves have been found in the Libyan city of Tarhuna, some 90 km south of Tripoli, Interior Minister of the UN-backed government of Libya Fathi Bashagha said.

“We discovered many terrible crimes committed by the militias that controlled the city of Tarhuna. Our services are now documenting those crimes,” Bashagha said in a statement.

Before the UN-backed government took control of it, Tarhuna was the main military operation center for the east-based army.

TRIPOLI, June 9 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Libya’s resurgent UN-recognised government has said it will defy any Russian warnings and press ahead with the capture of at least two more strategic sites in the west of Libya, with the aim of preventing Russia from setting up an airbase in the country.

It made the announcement as oil production restarted in Libya after being shut down since January.
