China: Wang Yi meets Afghan Taliban delegation in Tianjin

BEIJING, July 28 (APP): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday met a delegation of Afghan Taliban led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in north China’s Tianjin Municipality and said China was ready to play a constructive role in peace and reconciliation process of Afghanistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian confirmed.

U.S. in wrong direction on anti-virus fight, warns Fauci

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The United States is heading "in the wrong direction" as the country scrambles to fight a new surge of COVID-19 cases because of the Delta variant and a large number of unvaccinated people, Anthony Fauci, White House chief medical advisor, has warned.

"We are going in the wrong direction," the top infectious disease expert told CNN on Sunday.

According to Fauci, the latest surge in new cases was caused by the highly virulent Delta variant, as well as the large unvaccinated population of the nation.

Chinese FM meets U.S. deputy secretary of state, urging rational China policy

TIANJIN, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, urging the United States to drop arrogance and prejudice and steer back to a rational and pragmatic China policy.

In face of severe difficulties and challenges in China-U.S. relations, Wang said it requires serious consideration for the U.S. side to make correct choices as to whether the bilateral ties will head to confrontation or improvement.

China: Quanzhou added to UNESCO World Heritage List

FUZHOU, July 25 (Xinhua) -- East China's port city of Quanzhou, once hailed as "the very great and noble city" by the Italian explorer Marco Polo, won UNESCO World Cultural Heritage status Sunday, bringing the total number of the country's UNESCO World Heritage sites to 56.

UNESCO accepted "Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China" as a cultural property on its World Heritage List amid the ongoing 44th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Fuzhou, capital of east China's Fujian Province.
