ISLAMABAD, March 10 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said Pakistan would facilitate Uzbekistan to get access to its seaports of Gwadar and Karachi in a bid to enhance regional connectivity and trade.

In a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdlaziz Kamilov here at the PM House, the Prime Minister said Pakistan offered a shortest route to international seas to all Central Asian Republics including Uzbekistan and could prove as a gateway to landlocked Central Asia.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 09 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday said the government was taking necessary measures to protect the rights of minorities as well as ensure the security of their holy places.

He stated that the Constitution of Pakistan provided full protection and equal rights to all citizens including the minorities, and guaranteed fundamental rights of all citizens irrespective of their religion, race, caste, colour or creed.

ISLAMABAD, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Two separate attacks at police on Sunday in Pakistani capital Islamabad and its adjacent city Rawalpindi left at least two police personnel, including an officer, killed and two others injured, police and local media said.

Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad police Afzaal Kausar said in a statement that some unknown gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened fire with automatic weapons at a police party in the Sector G-13 area of the capital on Sunday night.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 07 (APP): Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Sunday said vaccination of people 60 years and older would be starting from March 10 (Wednesday).

In a tweet, Asad Umar who is also head of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) for Corona virus, said the vaccinations would be done in reverse order by age, which means the registered oldest person would be vaccinated first.

ISLAMABAD, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday successfully secured his seat by winning a vote of confidence from the National Assembly (NA), or the lower house of the country's parliament, NA Speaker Asad Qaiser said.

A total of 178 members from the 340-member house voted in Khan's favor, Qaiser said. 

ISLAMABAD, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Friday approved the emergency use of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for people over 60 years of age, a statement by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan allowed all registered healthcare workers with the national institute of medical sciences who are above 60 years old to get themselves vaccinated from designated vaccine centers, an NCOC statement read.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 2 (APP): Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent attacks against Saudi Arabia by Houthi militia, particularly the projectile that injured five civilians in a border village in Jazan region.

“These attacks not only violate the territorial integrity of the Kingdom but also threaten the lives of innocent people,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.

The Foreign Office said, “Pakistan calls for their immediate cessation, as it stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia.”

ISLAMABAD, Mar 1 (APP): The Republic of Korea and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Monday donated six hundred thousand (600,000) medical masks to the Government of Pakistan as a donation for distribution among Afghan refugees.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The United States wasted billions of dollars in war-torn Afghanistan on buildings and vehicles that were either abandoned or destroyed, according to a report released Monday by a U.S. government watchdog.

The agency said it reviewed $7.8 billion spent since 2008 on buildings and vehicles. Only $343.2 million worth of buildings and vehicles “were maintained in good condition,” said the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR, which oversees American taxpayer money spent on the protracted conflict.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (APP): Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said Pakistan wanted to resolve its issues with India through peaceful dialogue and desired resolution of the Kashmir dispute according to the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In a televised statement, he said, “We have to find solution to our core issues. We have to find a way through peaceful dialogue.”
