Armenia and Azerbaijan have been locked in a decades-long conflict for control of the mountainous region in Azerbaijan, which is populated mainly by ethnic Armenians.

YEREVAN, January 20. /TASS/:  Armenia is ready to intensify dialogue with Azerbaijan to normalize bilateral relations, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Friday.

Armenia cancels military drills, widening rift with Moscow

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — The prime minister of Armenia said Tuesday that his country has refused to host military drills planned by a Russia-dominated security pact, an announcement that reflected the Armenian government’s growing tensions with Moscow.

Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly criticized Russian peacekeepers for failure to secure free transit along a corridor linking Armenia and the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh that Azerbaijani activists have blocked since last month.

Pashinyan ready to extend Russian peacekeepers’ mandate in Karabakh for 20 years

YEREVAN, October 29. /TASS/: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is ready to sign a document at a trilateral meeting in Sochi to extend the mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh for up to 20 years, he said on Saturday.

"We want the Russian peacekeepers to continue their mission. I'm prepared to put my signature on a document in Sochi extending the peacekeepers' mandate for 10, 15, or 20 years. I suggest that the Russian President come up with this initiative. I can make the proposal, but Russia needs to support it," Pashinyan said.

USA: Pelosi condemns Azerbaijan over Armenia attack

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — The speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, said Sunday that the United States deplores recent attacks by Azerbaijan and called for a negotiated solution to the countries’ conflict.

Pelsoi’s visit to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, with a congressional delegation came just a few days days after two days of shelling by both sides that killed more than 200 troops. It was the largest outbreak of hostilities in more than two years.

YEREVAN, September 14. /TASS/: Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that a mission of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will arrive in Armenia on September 15.

"We expect that the CSTO mission will arrive in Armenia as early as tomorrow. Our request was duly discussed at the CSTO," the top diplomat said speaking during the government hour at the parliament on Wednesday.
