India Extends Suspension Of Int’l Flights Till End Of Aug

NEW DELHI, Aug 1 (NNN-UNI) – India yesterday extended the ban on international flights till Aug 31, said an official statement.

However, travel will take place under the “travel bubbles,” which the country has created with some countries like Germany, the United States and France, added the statement.

India: Land records digitalised in 23 states: Centre

New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Land records have been digitalised in 23 states/union territories, Union Rural Development Ministry said on Saturday.

Under the Digital India Land Record Modernisation Programme (DILRMP), computerisation of registration of land, cadastral maps and land records have been completed in more than 90 per cent of the states, the ministry said in an official statement.

The details of digitalisation of data related to land records was shared by the ministry in an event to release a booklet on best practices in DILRMP.

India: Eight core industries' output contracts 15 pc in Jun

New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Contracting for the fourth consecutive month, the output of eight core infrastructure industries shrank by 15 per cent in June due to fall in the production of coal, crude oil, natural gas, steel, cement and electricity.

The eight core sectors had expanded by 1.2 per cent in June 2019, data released by the Commerce and Industry Ministry on Friday showed.

Barring fertiliser, all seven sectors - coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, steel, cement, and electricity - had recorded negative growth in May.

India: PM Modi extends Eid greetings

New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended Eid greetings and hoped that the festival inspires us to create a "just, harmonious and an inclusive" society.

Eid al-Adha, also called the festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated on Saturday.

"Eid Mubarak. Greetings on Eid al-Adha. May this day inspire us to create a just, harmonious and inclusive society," the prime minister tweeted.

May the spirit of brotherhood and compassion be furthered, he said.

New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday extended his Eid greetings to people and hoped that the occasion will bring peace and prosperity to the society.

Eid al-Adha, also called the festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated on Saturday.

"Greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. May this day bring peace, harmony and prosperity in our society," Shah tweeted.

India records highest one-day jump of 57,118 COVID-19 cases

New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI) Calling for immediate release of Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader Saifuddin Soz, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said "illegal" detention of political leaders damages the fabric of the country.

Soz has alleged that he has been detained in his house since August 5 last year, when the Centre revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

"The illegal detention of political leaders with absolutely no basis damages the fabric of our nation. Mr Soz must be released at once," Gandhi tweeted.

India: SC directs Centre to ensure salaries paid to doctors on time

New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka and Tripura are yet to follow directives on timely payment of salaries to healthcare workers engaged in COVID-19, the Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court, which said it cannot be "helpless" in implementing the directions.

The court directed the Centre to issue necessary directions for releasing salaries of doctors and frontline healthcare workers engaged in COVID-19 duty on time.

India: SC allows filing of plea against environmental clearance to Central Vista project

New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) The Supreme Court Wednesday allowed filing of a fresh plea challenging the June 17 environmental clearance (EC) granted to the ambitious Central Vista project, covering 3-km stretch from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate in Lutyens' Delhi, for constructing a new Parliament House and other government buildings.

A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheswari and Sanjiv Khanna allowed senior advocate Shyam Divan to file within a week a fresh plea challenging the EC by the Central Vista Committee' to the project.

India: CBI books 4 Navy officers for generating fake bills to defraud Western Naval Command

New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI) The CBI has booked four Navy officers and 14 others for allegedly generating fake bills of Rs 6.76 crore for supplying IT hardware to the Western Naval Command, officials said.

Captain Atul Kulkarni, Commanders Mandar Godbole and R P Sharma, and Petty Officer LOG (F&A) Kuldeep Singh Baghel allegedly prepared seven fraudulent bills of Rs 6.76 crore, they said Wednesday.
