21 Feb 2023; MEMO: Arabi 21 learned that the Egyptian General Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood and its International Shura Council elected the historic leader of the group, Dr. Salah Abdel-Haq acting Supreme Guide, succeeding the late Ibrahim Mounir and that the move will be officially announced in the coming period.

Arab League warns: Israel's 'criminal' policies endanger entire region

16 Feb 2023; MEMO: The Arab League has condemned the Israeli Knesset's [Parliament] approval of a law allowing the Israeli government to revoke "citizenship or residency" from Palestinian citizens of Israel and Jerusalemites and deport them to the West Bank or the Gaza Strip, if they obtained financial assistance from the Palestinian National Authority.

In a statement issued Thursday, the League described the law as "unfair and racist, and constitutes a dangerous escalation and ethnic cleansing".

Sudan, Egypt agree to facilitate granting visas, residencies

17 Feb 2023; MEMO: Sudan and Egypt yesterday agreed to facilitate the granting of entry visas, residencies and work permits between both sides, and affirmed the freedom of ownership for Sudanese nationals in Egypt, the official Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported.

This came at the conclusion of the meetings of the fifth session of the Permanent Consular Committee between Sudan and Egypt, which was held in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

Egypt to sell stakes in 7 state-owned hotels to Gulf

14 Feb 2023; MEMO: Egyptian media reported that the government is set to sell 20-30 per cent stakes in seven state-owned hotels to investors, most of whom are potentially coming from the Arab Gulf region, amid a severe economic crisis.

Habi newspaper quoted the Managing Director of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels (HOTAC), Adel Wali, as saying that the government is seeking to offer shares through a newly established holding company that will own a portfolio of seven five-star hotels.

Egypt's largest oil expo kicks off with over 500 exhibitors

CAIRO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The sixth session of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS), one of the leading oil expos in the Middle East and North Africa, kicked off on Sunday in the Egyptian capital Cairo with hundreds of exhibitors from around the globe.

The opening ceremony of the three-day expo was attended by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and leaders of global energy, oil and gas companies.

Egypt President Sisi denies dispute with Saudi Arabia, warns against online 'sedition'

Arab leaders warn Israeli actions threaten regional turmoil

CAIRO (AP) — Dozens of leaders and senior officials from Arab and Islamic countries warned on Sunday Israeli actions in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank could worsen regional turmoil, as violence surges between Israel and the Palestinians.

The meeting in Cairo was hosted by the Arab League and attended by President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas along with many foreign ministers and senior officials.

Car Collision In Egypt Killed Nine

CAIRO, Feb 11 (NNN-MENA) – At least nine people were killed and several others wounded yesterday, after a passenger microbus collided with a truck on El Wahat Road in Giza province, south-west of the capital, Cairo, an Egyptian Health Ministry official said.

“Nine people were killed and nine others wounded in the accident,” said Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, spokesman of the Health Ministry, adding that, some of the wounded were in critical conditions.

EgyptAir's losses reach $900m

Egypt's national airline, EgyptAir, incurred losses of about 30 billion Egyptian pounds ($990 million) until 30 June 2022 due to the devaluation of the Egyptian pound, in addition to the increase in jet fuel prices, the minister of aviation said on Monday.

Mohamed Abbas Helmi added that in 2021, EgyptAir obtained a loan of five billion Egyptian pounds (170 million) to pay the salaries of its employees, noting that a large part of the current losses were carried forward from previous years.
