92,000 expats left Kuwait in the past 3 months

22 June 2020; MEMO: More than 92,000 expatriates left Kuwait in April, May and June through Kuwait International Airport, the Director of Operations at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) at Kuwait International Airport, Mansour Al-Hashimi, said.

Al-Hashimi said the expats included residents as well as violators of residency regulations who left aboard 600 flights.

Israel: Netanyahu says govt will weigh steps to halt COVID-19 amidst major uptick in cases

Jerusalem, Jun 22 (AP) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his government will weigh possible steps to halt the spread of the coronavirus after Israel saw a major uptick in new confirmed cases in recent days.

Israel has over 20,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with new cases jumping by more than 300 in recent days.

At least 305 people have died with COVID-19 since the country's outbreak began in March.

India's COVID-19 tally 4,25,282 with 14,821 fresh cases, death toll rises to 13,699

New Delhi, June 22 (PTI) India on Monday added 14,821 new COVID-19 cases pushing the infection tally to 4,25,282, while the death toll rose to 13,699 with 445 new fatalities, according to Union Health Ministry data

The country crossed the four lakh-mark on Sunday eight days after recording three lakh COVID-19 cases and has witnessed a surge of 2,34,747 infections from June 1 till 22

Turkey’s COVID-19 Death Toll Nears 5,000, Total Cases Climb To 187,685

ANKARA, June 22 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey’s confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 1,192, and 23 more people died, taking the death toll to 4,950, Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, said on Sunday.

The total number of confirmed cases stood at 187,685, the minister said.

Meanwhile, 1,412 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, making the total number of recovered cases to 160,240, he stated.

Koca said, 40,496 tests were conducted over the past day, and the overall number of tests reached 2,945,240.

Brazil’s COVID-19 Death Toll Tops 50,000

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 22 (NNN-CMA) – Brazil’s death toll from COVID-19 climbed to 50,617, after 641 patients died in the previous 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Over the same period, tests detected 17,459 new cases of infection, raising the total to 1,085,038.

The rates of infection and mortality ranked Brazil as having the second-largest outbreak in the world, after the United States.

Vietnam Records No New COVID-19 Cases

HANOI, June 22 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported no new cases of COVID-19 infection on Sunday, with its total confirmed cases remaining at 349 with zero deaths so far, according to its Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile as many as 327 patients have recovered from the disease, according to the ministry.

Vietnam has recorded no local transmission for 66 straight days, while there are over 5,700 people being quarantined and monitored in the country, said the ministry.

Israel: Number Of Hospitalised COVID-19 Patients Doubles Since Early June

JERUSALEM, June 22 (NNN-MA’AN) – The number of hospitalised COVID-19 patients in Israel doubled since early June, according to figures released by Israeli Ministry of Health on Sunday.

It said, 209 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised in Israel, compared with 105 on June 1.

The total number of cases in Israel increased to 20,778, with 145 new patients, while the death toll rose from 305 to 306, and the number of patients in serious condition remained at 40.

Delhi minister's office staff dies of coronavirus

New Delhi, June 20 (PTI) A stenographer in Delhi cabinet minister Rajendra Pal Gautam's office died due to coronavirus, an official said on Saturday.

Ashok Kumar (48), a resident of Ashok Vihar breathed his last at Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital on Friday afternoon, the official said.

Kumar had a fever and was put on a ventilator two days ago.

His younger brother had died of the deadly infection on June 7, the official said.

Kumar's wife and son have also tested positive for coronavirus.

Delhi govt issues revised order on home isolation

New Delhi, Jun 21 (PTI) The Delhi government has issued a revised order stating that the novel coronavirus patients who do not have comorbidities or require hospitalisation could opt for home isolation following withdrawal of the decision on five-day mandatory institutional quarantine.

"All individuals who are positive will be referred to the COVID care centres for assessment of clinical conditions, severity of illness and presence of co-morbidities," it said in an order on Saturday.
