No agreement on China tariff rollback: Trump

Washington, Nov 9 (AFP/PTI) President Donald Trump said Friday he has not agreed to roll back tariffs on Chinese imports, dampening recent optimism for a major de-escalation in the US-China trade war.

Amid a steady stream of conflicting reports, Trump's remarks appeared to push back against Beijing's claims that the two sides had agreed to remove tariffs in stages as part of a partial deal announced last month.

Indian PM inaugurates Kartarpur corridor, flags off pilgrims

Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdsapur), Nov 9 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Kartarpur corridor, flagging off the first batch of over 500 Indian pilgrims here, including former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

The corridor links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in this Punjab district.

India: Rupee tumbles 31 paise on India's outlook downgrade

Mumbai, Nov 8 (PTI) The rupee on Friday plummeted by 31 paise to hit an over three-week low of 71.28 against the US dollar after Moody's Investors Services cut India's rating outlook to negative citing growth concerns.

Moody's has changed the outlook on the country's ratings to 'negative' from 'stable', saying there was increasing risks that economic growth will remain materially lower than the past.

India: BJP leader Ghosh stands by cow milk having gold remark

Kolkata, Nov 8 (PTI) West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Friday justified his comment that Indian cow milk have "traces of gold", saying it was backed by conclusions of research taking place in the foreign countries.

He said those who are trolling him over the remark should first prove him wrong by producing counter research papers.

India: UP Shia Waqf Board welcomes Ayodhya verdict

Lucknow, Nov 9 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board, whose appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court while delivering the unanimous decision on the Ayodhya case on Saturday, has welcomed the verdict.

"The Shia Central Waqf Board welcomes the Supreme Court decision and congratulates the countrymen, especially those who fought the legal battle in a dignified manner," board chairman Waseem Rizvi said in a statement.

India: AIMPLB contemplating seeking review of Ayodhya verdict

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI) Expressing dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court verdict that cleared the way for the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Saturday said it was contemplating seeking a review of the judgment, even as it appealed to people to maintain peace and amity.

The apex court directed the Centre to allot a 5-acre plot at an alternative place to the Sunni Waqf Board, one of the parties in the decades long contentious dispute, for building a mosque.

The Supreme Court in a historic verdict on Saturday backed the construction of a Ram temple by a trust at the disputed site in Ayodhya, and ruled that an alternative five-acre plot must be found for a mosque in the Hindu holy town.

Kolkata, Nov 9 (PTI) West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh Saturday questioned Trinamool Congress' silence on the Ayodhya verdict and said the ruling party of Bengal always prefers to keep quiet when it comes to taking a stand on issues related to national and social interests.

Hailing the Supreme Court verdict on the disputed land at Ayodhya as "historic", Ghosh said BJP and the saffron camp had spearheaded the Ram Janambhoomi movement for a long time and would "definitely get political benefit once the temple is built".
