India: Traffic deflection caused for metro work at city's Mall road

Kanpur: As the Metro Rail Corporation is determined to erect a cross-arm inter-section at the Motijheel Station of the Priority Corridor, this construction will extend till Monday morning.

All the vehicles passing through this location will change their course.

Traffic heading towards the Motijheel Station from Mall Road will be diverted towards the left turn before the Motijheel Avenue Road.

Vehicles will be deflected to the road cutting on the right-hand side towards Tree House Lane.

Road Mishap Claims Six Lives In Western India

NEW DELHI, Sept 25 (NNN-PTI) – At least six people died and five others were injured, in a road accident, in India’s western state of Rajasthan, a local police officer confirmed today.

All the victims were youths, going to the state’s Sikar district, for the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher (REET), slated to be held tomorrow.

The mishap occurred at Chaksu area, near Jaipur, when the vehicle they were travelling in, rammed into a truck, the police said.

India: UP BJP plans its micro schemes for assembly polls

Kanpur: The BJP schedules its micro-management rehearsals for Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in six regions like Kashi, Gorakhpur, Awadh, Kanpur, Bundelkhand, Braj, and Western UP.

The party will also focus on the nomination of charges and the assistant in charge.

They will be stationed at different locations, each with varied responsibilities.

Captain Abhimanyu has been assigned to the Western UP zone, while Arjun Ram Meghwal will be in charge of the Braj zone.

Shobha Karandlaje will be in charge of Awadh. Saroj Pandey will be in command of Kashi.

India: Kanpur remains on top in road accidents for fourth year

Kanpur: The city has been maintaining its name among the list of 15 districts in Uttar Pradesh for deaths in accidents. It comes with a total of 563 accidents.

This figure puts it remains on the top position undoubtedly. This negative tendency continues for the last four years. 

According to the news reports the situation does not change even after the awareness programmes.

Ten districts remain popular for accidents as well as deaths.

Strangely enough, more than 38% of black spots are related to these fifteen districts.

India: Kanpur weather moves with pleasant conditions

Kanpur: The climatic conditions in the city appear to be pleasant for the past two days mainly because of the cloudy sky.

The strong wind is blowing with drizzles in parts. This seems to be keeping the weather enjoyable.

On the weather, the Agricultural University has indicated irregular rain. 

It has also been predicted that the prospect of rain stays in the coming month of October. Chances of heavy rains and winds have not been wholly dismissed.

These hints will certainly indicate drop in the temperature up to the first seven days of the ensuing month.

India: Shubham Kumar tops civil services exam 2020: UPSC

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) Shubham Kumar has topped the prestigious civil services examination 2020, results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday.

Jagrati Awasthi and Ankita Jain have got second and third ranks respectively.

A total of 761 candidates -- 545 men and 216 women -- have cleared the examination.

India: CAG Murmu becomes external auditor of IAEA

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) India's Comptroller and Auditor General G C Murmu was on Friday selected as the external auditor of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a prestigious institution that promotes peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said his candidature received majority support of the IAEA general conference and his tenure will be for six years, from 2022 to 2027.

India: Man sentenced to death for raping 4 yr old step sister in U'khand

Pithoragarh (U'khand), Sep 24 (PTI) A local court sentenced a man to death on Friday for raping his four-and-a-half-year-old step sister.

Special Sessions Judge Gyanendra Kumar Sharma convicted Janak Bahadur, a Nepalese labourer, for committing the heinous crime, government counsel Pramod Pant said.

Pronouncing the sentence, the judge said the crime fell into the rarest of rare category as the victim was the man's step sister who lived with him after the death of her parents.

India: Kerala Health Department bags national awards

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 24 (PTI): Amid high number of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the Health Department of the State bagged three national awards.

State Health Minister Veena George, in a statement, said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the awards.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in the social media, said Kerala bagged the award in the Aarogya Manthan 3.0 for providing the most number of free treatments in the country.

India: 20 students of Jamia RCA crack UPSC exam

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) Twenty students who studied at Jamia Millia Islamia's Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) have cracked the civil services examination, according to a statement issued by the university on Friday.

The selected students appeared at the main examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in January this year, followed by personality tests taken in the months of August and September, the statement said.
