Delhi reported maximum rape cases, murders among metro cities in 2020

New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) Delhi accounted for nearly 40 per cent of all rape cases and almost 25 per cent murder cases among 19 metropolitan cities in India in 2020, according to latest government data

Altogether, 1,849 murder cases and 2,533 rape cases were reported across the country in 2020, a year that witnessed COVID-19 outbreak and lockdowns, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data showed

India: NCRB finds better conviction figures by Kanpur police

Kanpur:  What remains better in Kanpur in accordance with the availability of the reports of the National Crime Records Bureau brought out recently.

It was definitely about the conviction figures in economic offences as was presented by the National Bureau.

According to the NCRB data, as many 383 accused were booked that remains more than the numbers given by the Delhi Police and Jaipur police respectively.

India: Raped girl commits suicide after rapist released on bail

Nagpur, Sep 15 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after the man accused of raping her was recently released from jail on bail in Maharashtra's Nagpur city, police said on Wednesday.

The girl, who lived with her father, stepmother and brother, allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling at her home in Jaripatka area on Monday, senior inspector Nitin Phatangare of Jaripatka police station said.

India: One dies, another injured in a crane-bike whack

Kanpur: A young employee of Private Pharma Company died and his friend suffered serious injuries when a speedy Crane hit their motorcycle in Naubasta area on Tuesday afternoon.

The employee got stuck near the Crane's wheel thereby colliding with the divider. He was dragged a few metres that caused his tragic death.

Reported to be a manager in the firm he was on his way to Naubasta from Bidhnoo. 34-year-old Puneet Pal got stuck into iron angle of the wheel while his friend Satwik was badly injured.

India: Rains lashes Jajmau after a long gap of time

Kanpur: The wind is blowing. Rains are pouring in. The highways are also waterlogged.

However, the car, trucks and small vehicles are running on the roads at speed in so far dry region of Jajmau.

The cloudy sky looks as if water is abundant in the clouds.

The rains started in the Jajmau area in the noon and it continues up to this time of 4.30 p.m. The rains are coming infractions. There comes a time when the rains begin and within five minutes or more it vanishes.

India: Woman killed in attack by monkeys in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 14 (PTI) A woman who was seriously injured in an attack by monkeys in a village here, died on Tuesday, officials said.

The victim, identified as Shimla, was rushed to a government health centre after the attack in Firozpur village that falls under Bhopa police station.

According to her family members, she wasn't administered the rabies vaccine at the health centre.

Later, her condition worsened and she was admitted at the medical college in Muzaffarnagar, where she succumbed to injuries Tuesday, they said.

India: HC stays second suspension order against Dr Kafeel

Allahabad, Sep 14 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court has stayed the second suspension order against Dr Kafeel Ahmad Khan.

On July 31, 2019, the doctor was suspended for the second time while he was already under suspension for allegedly forcibly treating patients at the Bahraich District Hospital and criticising policies of the government.

He was earlier suspended following a tragedy at Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College, where around 60 children had died in August 2017 due to an alleged shortage of oxygen.

India: Man gets 20-year jail in rape case in UP

Ghaziabad, Sep 14 (PTI) A POCSO court here sentenced a man to 20 years in jail in a rape case and also slapped a fine of Rs 30,000.

Jogesh (23), alias Jogan, was convicted for the rape of a 10-year-old girl, special public prosecutor Utkarsh vats said.

According to complaint, the incident had taken place on October 29 last year when the girl's parents had gone out of home for some work.

The girl and her brother were at home, when the convict turned up there.

He shunted out the boy and raped the girl.

India: What kind of Yogi propagates hate: Rahul

New Delhi, Sep 14 (PTI) In an apparent reference to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's 'abba jaan' remarks, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said what kind of a Yogi propagates hate.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister's office hit back at Gandhi, saying in a tweet, "If bulldozing the empire of criminals and miscreants is hate, then this hatred will continue unabated."

Earlier, taking to Twitter, Gandhi posted, "Jo nafrat kare, woh yogi kaisa! (What kind of a Yogi propagates hate)."

India: Kanpur district has reported 103 dengue cases

Kanpur: As many as 103 cases of dengue across the district has been reported, informs Dr A Shukla, CMO on Tuesday.

According to the news reports, nine dengue cases were reported on Tuesday and out of the total 103 cases, 80 cases have been reported in the rural areas of the district.

The report also discloses  that 206 and 1025 tests were conducted for dengue and malaria respectively across the district.

Meanwhile, the patients have been visiting hospitals in Kanpur with complaints of fever these days.
