Malaysian Gov’t Warns At-Risk Communities To Brace For Floods

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Heavy rain and flooding are expected in Peninsula Malaysia’s east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu, in the coming days, with authorities yesterday, warning those at risk, to take precautions.

Those in high-risk areas have also been asked to comply with instructions from the authorities, as federal disaster relief agencies take steps to prepare for severe continuous rains, Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in a statement.

Malaysian PM Anwar Hopes China Will Join Forces To Resolve Palestinian-Israeli Conflict

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 9 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed hope that China would join forces to ensure the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can be resolved quickly so that humanitarian aid could be sent to Gaza without restrictions. 

According to Malaysian Foreign Minister Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, the matter was conveyed by Anwar to China’s Vice President Han Zheng during their meeting at Perdana Putra here. 

Han, who is on a four-day official visit to Malaysia, had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister.

Malaysia Does Not Recognise US Unilateral Sanctions – PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (NNN-Bernama) — The Malaysian Government does not recognise any unilateral decision made by any country, including the United States, to impose sanctions against individuals, agencies or countries supporting Hamas, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

Instead, he said Malaysia only recognises decisions made by the United Nations (UN) that are multilateral in nature.

“We do not agree with the decision made by the United States and it will not influence our policies and decisions,” he said during Minister’s Question Time at the Parliament sitting. 

Malaysia To Decide Within Next 2 Days On Participation In Apec Economic Leaders’ Week — PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia will decide within the next two days on its participation in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders’ Week 2023, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“I am coordinating with all countries. So far, most (of the countries) are attending. So I will check on this (matter) in one or two days,” he told reporters after officiating at the launch of the Malaysia Digital Expo (MDX) 2023 Grand Finale here.

Japan PM Kishida on two-day working visit to Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 4 (NNN-Bernama) — The Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida will undertake a Working Visit to Malaysia on Nov 4-5, marking his first visit to Malaysia since his appointment as Japan’s Prime Minister in Oct 2021. 

Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) in a statement on Saturday said Kishida is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim where both leaders are expected to review the progress of bilateral relations.

Malaysia’s first shipment of humanitarian aid for Palestine departs Friday night

SEPANG (Malaysia), Nov 3 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia’s first shipment of humanitarian aid for Palestinians weighing 20 tonnes, including medical supplies, loaded on a special cargo plane, departed for Al-Arish International Airport, Egypt Friday night.

The cargo plane took off at about 11.30 pm from the Cargo Terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here, and the humanitarian aid will then be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, acting as a partner to bring them into Gaza through the Rafah border.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia commends the 121 countries that had the courage to stand up for humanity and supported the resolution on Gaza proposed by Jordan, co-sponsored by 46 countries including Malaysia, calling for an immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
