Pakistan: 10 killed in suicide attack at Pak police station in Swat Valley

Peshawar, Apr 24 (PTI) At least 10 people, including eight policemen, were killed and over 20 injured in a "suicide attack" at a police station in Pakistan's restive northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, authorities said.

The blast took place at the Kabal police station in Swat Valley.

The police station premises also has the Counter Terrorism Department and a mosque.

Foreign Secretary, Pakistan Missions discuss safe, quick evacuation of Pakistanis from Sudan

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed Khan on Saturday held a follow-up virtual meeting with Pakistan’s missions in Sudan and neighboring countries to discuss modalities for the safe evacuation of Pakistanis from Sudan.

The representatives from PIA, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and other relevant agencies also joined the meeting.

The participants had an in-depth discussion on finalizing plans for safely and quickly evacuating Pakistani citizens from Sudan.

Pakistan: Bilawal, Iranian counterpart exchange Eid greetings

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Saturday telephoned his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and exchanged Eid greetings with him.
The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan.
Similarly, Bilawal Bhutto extended his felicitations to the people of Iran.
While talking to his Iranian counterpart, Bilawal said the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia was a positive development.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP):The World Earth Day despite Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the country on Saturday seeking more awareness among the masses to conserve the earth and its natural resources facing extreme pressure threats due to global warming and climate change.

The United Nations calls the event ‘International Mother Earth Day’. This year’s theme was continued as the important theme for a second year “Invest In Our Planet”.

The Earth Day is usually celebrated with outdoor performances, where individuals or groups perform acts of service to Earth.

ISLAMABAD, April 20 (Reuters) - Pakistan has placed its first order for discounted Russian crude oil under a deal struck between Islamabad and Moscow, the country's petroleum minister said, with one cargo to dock at the port of Karachi in May.

Peshawar/Beijing, Apr 18 (PTI) An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sent a Chinese national to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on blasphemy charges in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after he was arrested on Monday, media reports said on Tuesday.

The police arrested the Chinese national identified as Tian on Sunday and on Monday he was shifted to Abbottabad via an Army helicopter due to security concerns as the police feared local people could harm him.

Two dead after landslide at Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossing

LANDI KOTAL (Pakistan), April 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — At least two people were killed and eight injured in a massive pre-dawn landslide that buried dozens of trucks waiting to cross from Pakistan to Afghanistan, officials said
Tuesday.

The landslide struck Torkham border post, the busiest and most important transit point for trade between the two countries, as more than 120 trucks were waiting to cross.

“We have recovered two bodies and have taken eight injured to hospital,” Bilal Faizi, a spokesman for the Rescue 1122 emergency service, said.

Chinese national arrested in Pakistan on blasphemy charges

Islamabad/Peshawar, Apr 17 (PTI) Pakistani police have arrested a Chinese national working at a hydropower project in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after local people accused him of blasphemy, police said.

The police arrested the Chinese national identified as Tian on Sunday and on Monday he was shifted to Abbottabad via an Army helicopter due to security concerns as the police feared local people could harm him, the Dawn newspaper quoted Station House Officer Naseerudin as saying.
