Pakistan's new federal cabinet takes oath

ISLAMABAD, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A 37-member federal cabinet of newly-elected Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif took the oath during a ceremony held at the President House here on Tuesday.

Chairman of Pakistan's Senate Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath to the cabinet members that include 31 federal ministers, three ministers of state and three advisers to the prime minister, according to a statement issued by the President House.

MIRPUR (AJK): Apr 18 (APP) : The PTI’s nominee Sardar Tanveer Illayas was elected unopposed as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir in a special session of Legislative Assembly held in State metropolis on Monday.

Afghan govt. urged to take stern action against elements carrying out terrorist activities inside Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 17 (APP): Pakistan on Sunday requested the sovereign Government of Afghanistan to secure Pak- Afghan border region and take stern actions against the individuals involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan, in the interest of peace and progress of the two brotherly countries.

Pakistan says cross-border attacks from Afghanistan have increased

ISLAMABAD, April 17 (Reuters) - Pakistan said on Sunday said incidents of its security forces being targeted in cross-border attacks from Afghanistan had risen significantly, and called on Taliban authorities to act against militants, a day after purported air strikes by Pakistan.

The incident has increased already simmering tensions between the neighbours.

Ashraf takes oath as speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly

ISLAMABAD, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Raja Pervaiz Ashraf took oath on Saturday as the 22nd speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly, or the lower house of the country's parliament.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who chaired the National Assembly session, administered the oath of office to Ashraf, a former prime minister of Pakistan and prominent lawmaker of the Pakistan Peoples Party, the National Assembly said in a tweet.

The newly-elected speaker was the lone contender for the speaker's position as no other candidate had submitted nomination papers against him.

Pakistan warns neighbor Afghanistan not to shelter militants

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan fired off a sharp warning Sunday to Afghanistan’s hard-line religious rulers to stop sheltering homegrown Pakistani Taliban militants who have staged increasingly deadly attacks against the country’s military.

The warning followed Afghan reports that Pakistani aircraft late Friday carried out bombing raids in Afghanistan’s eastern Khost and Kunar provinces, killing civilians.

Pakistan: PM, Saudi Crown Prince agree to further solidify bilateral ties

Pakistan military dismisses Khan's theory U.S. conspired to oust him as PM

ISLAMABAD, April 14 (Reuters) - Pakistan's powerful military on Thursday dismissed ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan's accusation that the United States had conspired to topple him in a parliamentary vote of confidence.

Khan, 69, who led the nuclear-armed South Asian country of 220 million people for 3-1/2 years, accused Washington of backing his ouster because he had visited Moscow against U.S. advice. Washington denies the charge.

Khan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Feb. 24, the day Russian forces invaded neighbouring Ukraine.

Pak members reminded of legal consequences for holding processions in UAE

ISLAMABAD, April 13 (APP): Pakistan’s Embassy in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday reminded members of the Pakistani community that holding of processions and protests in UAE were illegal.

“Anyone breaking the laws is bound to face serious legal consequences. Therefore, the community members are advised to strictly abide by the local laws,” a press release of the Embassy in Abu Dhabi said.

The information was issued after reports about holding of protests by the supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in UAE.
