Shoigu calls US belief in its superiority the major threat to Russia and other states

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/: The United States’ belief in its own superiority could lead to various unreasonable ideas, posing a major threat to Russia and other states, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in his interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets published on Sunday.

"When you think - as the United States continues to believe so by inertia - that the balance of power has developed in your favor, various ideas may come to your head, including unreasonable ones. I consider this situation now as the main threat, and not only for Russia," Shoigu said.

Russian sailors kidnapped by pirates in Cameroon to return home soon - embassy

TASS, September 22: Russian sailors, who were kidnapped by pirates in Cameroon in mid-August, will come back home soon, Russia’s Embassy in Cameroon confirmed on its Facebook page on Sunday.

According to the Seafarers’ Union of Russia, the freed Russian sailors are now in Hamburg.

"The Russian sailors, who were taken hostage by pirates off Cameroon on August 15, have been released. This was confirmed by the employer company. Now they are in Germany and they will soon return home," the statement said.

Russian drones may be fitted with light version of Su-57 communication system

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/: A simplified version of Russia’s combined system of communications, data exchange, navigation and identification (OSNOD), which is now undergoing trials as part of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet, is now being developed for drones, the developer said on Saturday.

"We are now carrying out a wide range of works to adapt the system for various carriers, including unmanned systems," Alexei Ratner, the head of the Polet science and technical center of the Russian Electronics holding (part of Rostec state corporation), told TASS.

Russia to carry out additional analysis of national security threats — Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/: Russia will have to carry out additional analysis of threats to national security and strategic stability with regard to US plans to arm its military forces with short-and medium-range missiles as soon as possible, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement comes in response to the Department of State’s report, headlined Adherence to and Compliance with Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament Agreements and Commitments (Compliance Report), released on Friday.

Toy unicorn chosen as zero-gravity indicator for next mission to ISS

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/: A toy unicorn will be used as a zero-gravity indicator aboard the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft, which will depart to the International Space Station on September 25, Russian cosmonaut and mission commander Oleg Skripochka said.

Skripochka earlier said the zero gravity indicator will be chosen by his children.

Trials of next-generation Orel spacecraft’s descent module due in 2020 - source

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/: The trials of the descent capsule of Russia’s next-generation partially reusable Orel spacecraft (formerly known as Federatsiya) will be held in the second half of 2020, a source in Russia’s rocket and space industry told TASS.

"Tests related to the Orel spacecraft descent module’s landing are planned to take place in the second half of 2020," the source said, without specifying how long those trials may take.
