KHARTOUM, April 6 (Reuters) - Factions aligned with Sudan's military have drawn up a deal to form a transitional government that would cement the army's control and bypass pro-democracy groups it shared power with before an October coup, according to a document seen by Reuters and three sources familiar with the agreement.

The draft deal comes with the military under pressure from a deteriorating economy and frequent protests that have continued despite a lethal crackdown by security forces.

This was reported in a statement issued by the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, coinciding with the escalation of violence in the Sudanese state.

Sudanese protesters, on Tuesday, blocked main roads in the capital, Khartoum, amid fresh demonstrations demanding full civilian rule, Anadolu News Agency reports.

"Khartoum witnessed an almost complete closure of roads with cement barriers, tree trunks and burning tires," an eyewitness told Anadolu Agency.

Sudanese authorities, meanwhile, deployed extra forces in the capital in an attempt to re-open roads, witnesses said.

24 March 2022; MEMO: Relations between Sudan and Israel are being strengthened but have not reached the level of normalisation, Sudan's military leader General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has said according to Israeli public broadcaster Kan.

According to the station, Al-Burhan said that the upcoming Sudanese government might be able to normalise relationship with Israel.

17 March 2022; MEMO: Thousands of Sudanese demonstrated in the capital, Khartoum, on Thursday to protest price hikes and poor living conditions, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Protesters gathered near the presidential palace in Khartoum, raising banners condemning difficult economic conditions, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter on the ground.

KHARTOUM, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations mission in Sudan on Saturday called on the Sudanese authorities to work to stop violence in all parts of the country and restore stability in Sudan's Darfur region.

The UN Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) expressed in a statement concern over recent violent incidents in Darfur that left dozens of civilians dead, besides the death of two protesters in the capital of Khartoum.

9 March 2022; MEMO: Sudanese banks yesterday sold US dollars at a rate of 530 pounds, down by 19 per cent compared to the previous rate, after authorities moved to counter a slide in the value of the currency.

The central bank said in a statement that banks and currency exchanges would set their own buying and selling rates without the central bank's intervention.

An emergency economic committee led by Sudan's ruling council said it would unify official and black market exchange rates.

08 March 2022; MEMO: The European Union has joined a number of countries who have called on Sudanese authorities to commit to defending media freedoms and respecting the right to peaceful assembly.

The ambassadors and heads of missions of the European Union, Canada, Norway, Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom, South Korea, the United States and the Netherlands issued the call yesterday in a joint statement "on freedom of expression and media freedoms in Sudan".
