India: Yoga guru among 2 held for Rs 50 cr MLM racket

Hyderabad, Dec 24 (PTI) A self-styled spiritual guru and his brother have been arrested here for allegedly cheating several people of over Rs 50 crore in a multi-level marketing racket, police said Monday.

E Kumar Girish Singhand Dileep Singh were taken into custody based on a complaint by a woman from whom the Rs 21.78 lakh was collected for investment in 'DREAM BRIDZ', a social business network, assuring huge profits within a short period if the investors enrolled two new members each, a police release said.

India: IAF chief "lying" over Rafale deal, says Moily

Hyderabad, Dec 20 (PTI) Senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily Thursday accused Indian Air Force chief B S Dhanoa of "lying" a day after the latter called the Rafale deal a "game changer" and the Supreme Court verdict on it a "very fine" judgement.

He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise for having sacrificed the security of the nation by entering into the deal.

India: Triple Talaq bill discriminatory: AIMIM

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (PTI) The AIMIM Tuesday alleged that the triple talaq bill introduced by the NDA government was discriminatory.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said he would be proposing amendments to it to "ensure that deserted spouses are protected."

"Continuing his longstanding tradition of terrible lawmaking, Modi has introduced a "revised" Triple Talaq Bill that is discriminatory & anti-women," the Hyderabad MP said in a tweet.

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (PTI) One of the key takeaways of the Telangana Assembly elections is the remarkable transformation of the "friendship" between the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi into a "full-fledged partnership."

AIMIM fielded eight candidates in the December 7 polls to the 119-member House and supported the TRS -- the two describe themselves as friendly parties, in the remaining segments.

India: Chandrasekhar Rao to be sworn in Telangana CM

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (PTI) TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who led his party to a resounding victory in the assembly elections, would be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Telangana for a second straight term Thursday.

The swearing-in ceremony would be held at the Raj Bhavan at around 1.30 pm, official sources said Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Rao was unanimously elected leader of the TRS Legislature Party by the newly-elected MLAs.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (PTI) Hitting back at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's "Nizam" barb at him, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has said India is his father's country and no one is running away.

Addressing a poll rally here Sunday night, he also said Adityanath was speaking the language of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and he was ignorant about history.

Bhoopalpally/Armoor, Nov 29 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of "diluting the Tribal Rights Act to the detriment of forest dwellers.

Addressing an election meeting at Bhoopalpally in the tribal belt of Telangana, he promised reservations in government jobs and admissions to state-run educational institutions for Scheduled Tribe candidates proportionate to their population in the state.

India: KCR slams Shah for opposing quota to Muslims

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (PTI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Monday slammed BJP chief Amit Shah for his opposition to the TRS government's proposal to increase reservation for Muslims in the state.

Rao, who was speaking at an election rally at Dichpally, said he will continue his efforts to get quotas increased for Scheduled Tribes and Muslims.
