Iran, Venezuela sign new oil cooperation agreements

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran and Venezuela have signed new oil cooperation documents and memorandums of understanding in the fields of development of oil and gas fields, reconstruction of refineries and petrochemical complexes, and oil trade.

Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji, who has traveled to Caracas to enhance bilateral cooperation with Venezuela in the downstream and upstream sectors of oil industry, met with Venezuela's Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and Oil Minister Pedro Rafael Tellechea, during which they signed these documents and MoUs.

Venezuela’s oil minister resigns over graft probe

CARACAS, March 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Venezuela’s oil minister Tareck El Aissami resigned on Monday after prosecutors opened a corruption investigation into officials at the state oil company PDVSA.

Anti-corruption police on Sunday arrested two people closely linked to El Aissami: top PDVSA official Antonio Perez Suarez, and Joselit Ramirez, who manages oil industry funds through cryptocurrencies.

Venezuelan president optimistic about future of LatAm, Caribbean

CARACAS, March 12 (NNN-XINHUA) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his optimism about integrating Latin America and the Caribbean and affirmed his country’s commitment to various regional cooperation mechanisms.

“We are experiencing a second progressive wave in Latin America. We are very attentive to the evolution of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the reactivation of the Union of South American Nations,” Maduro wrote Saturday on Twitter after an interview with Radio La Pizarra.

Venezuelan president urges youths to defeat U.S. blockade

CARACAS, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday urged the country's youths to fight and defeat "the challenge of the blockade, sanctions and attacks" of the United States.

Addressing thousands during a ceremony marking National Youth Day, he called on the younger generations to "liberate the homeland," and to "fight so that Venezuela will not be a colony again."

Venezuela sent forces and supplies to support Türkiye and Syria

CARACAS, Feb 9 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The Venezuelan government sent more than 50 specialized search and rescue forces, food and medical supplies to Türkiye and Syria, to support recovery efforts after Monday’s devastating earthquake.    

The group departed Wednesday night from Simón Bolívar International Airport, in Maiquetía, La Guaira State, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil and the sectorial Vice-President for Security and Peace, Remigio Ceballos.

Sanctions aggravated economic crisis in Venezuela, UN said

CARACAS, Jan 29 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (DDHH), Volker Türk, stressed that it is evident that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Venezuela in 2017 aggravated the economic crisis in the country.    

When presenting to the press this Saturday the balance of three days of work with the different actors in society, the official pointed out that his Office once again recommended that the Member States (in reference to the United States) suspend or lift the sanctions, which “have a detrimental effect on human rights”.

Pres Maduro highlights improvement in malnourishment – only 7.7% of Venezuelans

CARACAS, Jan 14 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) — Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro insisted that his administration was tackling the issue of malnourishment suffered by nearly 2.3 million people nationwide, according to the government’s latest reports.

Maduro said that more work was required to help citizens who are not guaranteed a proper diet and underlined the notorious improvement from figures recorded in 2017 when nearly 11 million people were in this condition.

Venezuelan President Appointed New FM, State Oil Company Chief

CARACAS, Jan 8 (NNN-ABN) – Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, appointed Yvan Gil, as the new foreign affairs minister, and Pedro Tellechea, as the new president of state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela S.A.

“It’s a great responsibility. I’m sure he will perform with great professionalism,” Maduro said of Gil, on his Twitter account.

The new foreign minister replaces Carlos Faria, whom Maduro thanked for “outstanding work,” adding that, Carlos will be assigned new tasks soon.
