PA: Israel eviction plans in Masafer Yatta amount to ethnic cleansing

07 May 2022; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority warned on Friday that Israel's Supreme Court's agreement to demolish more than 12 Palestinian villages in Masafer Yatta amounts to ethnic cleansing.

According to Wafa News Agency, these evictions would lead to the displacement of more than 4,000 Palestinian citizens, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the spokesperson for PA President Mahmoud Abbas, confirmed.

Israel to build 4,000 new settlement units in occupied West Bank

07 May 2022; MEMO: Defying international law, Israeli occupation authorities plan to build 3,988 new settlement units in two areas across the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

The Israeli Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria (the Israeli name for the West Bank) is set to give its final approval for building 2,536 new settlement units, The Jerusalem Post reported, and allow for plans for an additional 1,452 settlement units.

India: Rahul Gandhi attacks govt over WHO Covid death numbers

New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked the government over a WHO report which claimed that there were 4.7 million Covid deaths in India, saying "science does not lie, Prime Minister Narendra Modi does".

Gandhi also demanded that the government should support the families that have lost loved ones by giving them the mandated Rs four lakh compensation.

Activists fly Palestine flag along Ukranian flag over UK city hall

05 May 2022; MEMO: A group of British activists have unfurled a Palestinian flag on top of the town hall in Bishop's Castle on the English side of the border with Wales. Activist Sarah Wilkinson climbed the building on Monday — the Muslim holiday of Eid-al-Fitr — and called out the double standards of the town for raising the Ukraine flag following Russia's invasion but not doing the same for Palestine despite it suffering under 74 years of Israeli occupation.

Palestine: Settlers invade Nablus and destroy hundreds of olive saplings in Al-Khader

05 May 2022; MEMO: On Thursday morning, settlers destroyed hundreds of olive saplings and agricultural crops in the town of Al-Khader, Bethlehem district, and dozens of settlers stormed the areas of Burqa and Al-Masoudiya, located in the Nablus district in the occupied West Bank.

India: Travesty of justice: SC on delay in bail to SP leader Azam Khan

New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Friday expressed displeasure over the delay in hearing the bail application of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in a land grabbing case, saying this is a travesty of justice.

A bench comprising Justices L Nageswara Rao and B R Gavai noted that Khan has got bail in 86 out of 87 cases, and said it would hear the matter on May 11.

Jordan warns Israel about provoking Muslims by storming Al-Aqsa Mosque

05 May 2022; MEMO: Jordan has warned Israel about the ongoing threats against Al-Aqsa Mosque from extremist Jewish settlers, the Jordan Times has reported.

Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places Mohamed Al-Khalayleh said that allowing extremist settlers to storm the mosque compound "provokes" Muslims around the world.

Palestine urges UNSC to stop Israel escalations

05 May 2022; MEMO: Palestine has called on the United Nations Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities and stop the Israeli escalation against Palestinians and their sanctities, Anadolu news agency reported.

A statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the Security Council to "take the necessary measures to pressure the Israeli government to stop its aggression and escalation against the Palestinians and force it to abide by international law."

US and Israel block Palestinian rights activists from attending UN civil society forum

05 May 2022; MEMO: The US and Israel have blocked leading Palestinian human rights activists from attending the UN Civil Society Forum in Mexico City, Quds Press reported yesterday.

The Director of Addameer for Human Rights, Sahar Francis, and the Director of Bisan Centre for Research and Development, Ubai Al-Aboudi, were both stopped by the Israeli authorities, apparently at America's request.
