650 patients in danger due to catastrophic situation in Al-Shifa Hospital

12 November 2023; MEMO: The director general of hospitals in the Gaza Strip warned on Sunday that lives of about 650 patients are at risk due to the catastrophic situation in the Al-Shifa Hospital, reports Anadolu Agency.

About 650 patients, including 36 children, have their lives in danger, Muhammad Zaqout said at a press conference, calling on Egypt to save their lives.

Over 100 UN staffers killed in 1 month in Gaza: Official

10 November 2023; MEMO: The UN Agency for Palestinian refugees, or UNRWA, said Friday that more than 100 of its staff have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Israeli-Palestine war on 7 October, Anadolu Agency reports.

“Devastated. Over 100 UNRWA colleagues confirmed killed in 1 month. Parents, teachers, nurses, doctors, (and) support staff,” UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on X.

EU Council President Michel calls for no double standards in Israel-Palestine conflict

10 November 2023; MEMO: European Council President, Charles Michel, in a recent interview with Belgian newspaper Le Libre, emphasised the need for the European Union to avoid double standards in its approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict, Anadolu Agency reports.

Michel reiterated the recognition of Israel’s right to self-defence, stressing that it must be consistent with international law.

African leaders, Saudi Crown Prince call for end to war in Gaza

11 November 2023; MEMO: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, on Friday, called for an end to the war in Gaza, a stance later echoed in a declaration with African leaders attending a summit in Riyadh, Reuters reports.

"We condemn what the Gaza Strip is facing from military assault, targeting of civilians, the violations of international law by the Israeli Occupation authorities" Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said during the African-Saudi summit in the Kingdom’s capital.

Gaza deaths likely 'higher than is being cited' - senior US diplomat

09 November 2023; MEMO: Despite shocking totals of over 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza killed since 7 October,  according to the enclave’s Health Ministry, the number is likely to be “higher than are being cited,” according to a senior US diplomat, Anadolu Agency reports.

Arab FMs reject displacement of Palestinians to Egypt, Jordan

10 November 2023; MEMO: Arab foreign ministers have categorically rejected the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan as well as Israel’s occupation of the Gaza Strip, and called for “holding Israel accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people before the relevant international courts.”

Israel refuses to attend Paris humanitarian conference for Gaza

09 November 2023; MEMO: Israeli officials have refused to attend today’s “humanitarian conference” for Gaza in Paris, organised by French President Emmanuel Macron. Despite its absence, Macron’s office insists that Israel shares “an interest in the humanitarian situation improving in Gaza.”

Macron and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a conversation on Tuesday, and they are scheduled to engage in further discussions following the end of the aid conference, explained the Elysee Palace.
