Israel: foreign ministry criticises European diplomats' Sheikh Jarrah visit

18 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Israeli Foreign Ministry criticised European diplomats harshly on Monday for visiting Sheikh Jarrah in solidarity with a Palestinian family under threat of forced eviction, the Jerusalem Post has reported.

"The ambassadors that attacked Israel today were confused," claimed a senior ministry official. "Instead of protecting the residents, they're protecting criminals."

Sudan revokes license of Al Jazeera Mubasher TV

16 Jan 2022; MEMO: Sudanese authorities have revoked the license of the Doha-based Al Jazeera Mubasher TV, citing "unprofessional coverage" of developments in Sudan.

The Information Ministry said in a letter to the director of Al Jazeera television in Sudan on Saturday that the move was taken due to the channel's "unprofessional approach" and broadcast of media content that "harmed the country's higher interests and national security".

New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said the BJP's politics of "hatred" is very harmful for the country and is also responsible for unemployment.

"I also believe that the hate politics of the BJP is very harmful for the country. And this hatred is also responsible for the unemployment," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

Palestine: Forestation in Negev to continue: Israel minister

15 Jan 2022; MEMO: Forestation in the Negev region is set to continue with the government refusing to discuss the issue, aides close to Israeli Housing and Land Minister Ze'ev Elkin have confirmed, reported Sama News Agency on Friday.

Since Friday, the Jewish National Fund (JNF), in cooperation with the Israeli government, has been grading the land of Arab residents of Israel (Palestinians who did not leave their lands in 1948) and planting trees.

"Using all of its colonial tools, the Zionist Israeli occupation failed to uproot our people from the Negev," Qasem avowed in a statement.

13 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israel's Supreme Court has reduced the sentence of an extremist Israeli settler convicted of throwing stun grenades into Palestinian homes last year in the occupied West Bank. Judge Hagai Tarsi initially ordered the teenager, whose name has not been made public, to 20 months in prison and a fine of 60,000 shekels ($18,950), which will be paid to his victims in the village of Sarta.

'Huge victory' for campaigners as Israel's weapons manufacturer forced to close site

11 Jan 2022; MEMO: Campaign groups have claimed a "huge victory" against Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems, which they claim has been forced to shut one of its UK branches following an 18-month long sustained direct protest by Palestine Action.

Elbit sold off its Ferranti Power and Control business in Manchester to TT Electronics for $12 million in a deal which the Israeli firm completed, apparently, as part of its restructuring of its UK operations.
