Palestinian Authority resuming cooperation with Israel

18 Nov 2020; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority will resume civil and security cooperation with Israel suspended in May over a now-frozen Israeli plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian minister said on Tuesday.

Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh wrote on Twitter that "the relationship with Israel will return to how it was" after President Mahmoud Abbas received confirmation that Israel remained committed to past agreements with the Palestinians.

Bahrain delegation heads to Israel on Gulf Air flight

18 Nov 2020; MEMO: Bahrain's first official government delegation to Israel set off on Wednesday on the first Gulf Air commercial flight to Tel Aviv, as the two countries look to broaden cooperation after establishing formal ties in September in a US-brokered accord.

Gulf Air flight GF972 – a reference to Israel's telephone country code – took off from Manama airport in the morning bound for Tel Aviv, according to flight-tracking website FlightRadar24.

India: Patricia Mukhim resigns from Editors Guild of India over "complete silence"

Shillong, Nov 17 (PTI) Editor of The Shillong Times Patricia Mukhim Tuesday resigned as member of Editors Guild of India (EGI) in protest against what she called, the organizations "complete silence" on the recent High Court ruling which refused to quash an FIR against her and held her guilty of creating communal disharmony through her Facebook post in July.

Venezuela backs Palestinians' right to establish independent state

17 Nov 2020; MEMO: Venezuela will continue to support the Palestinian people and their right to "self-determination and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state," President Nicolas Maduro said yesterday.

Maduro's remarks came in a congratulatory telegram which he sent to the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Palestine's Declaration of Independence Day.

17 Nov 2020; MEMO: Qatar's foreign minister said on Monday Arab states that establish ties with Israel undermine efforts for Palestinian statehood, but it was in their own sovereign right to do so, Reuters reports.

Three Arab countries – the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan – set aside hostilities with Israel in recent months to agree to formal relations in deals brokered by US President Donald Trump's administration.

Pelestine: Settlers return to settlement in northern West Bank evacuated in 2005

17 Nov 2020; MEMO: More than 20 Israeli Jewish families today returned to Sa-Nur settlement in the northern occupied West Bank, which was evacuated in 2005, local media reported.

The settlers who lived in the illegal Sa-Nur and Homesh settlements entered the area in the early hours of the morning without coordination with the Israeli army, the Times of Israel said, in protest against the evacuation of the settlements.

Hate crimes in US reach highest level in more than a decade

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hate crimes in the U.S. rose to the highest level in more than a decade as federal officials also recorded the highest number of hate-motivated killings since the FBI began collecting that data in the early 1990s, according to an FBI report released Monday.

There were 51 hate crime murders in 2019, which includes 22 people who were killed in a shooting that targeted Mexicans at a Walmart in the border city of El Paso, Texas, the report said.

India: 2 Dalit sisters aged 8 and 12 found dead, families allege murder after failed rape bid

Fatehpur (UP), Nov 17 (PTI) The bodies of two Dalit sisters were found with eye injuries in a pond in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, with their families alleging that they were killed after an unsuccessful rape bid, police said.

The bodies of the girls, aged 8 and 12, were retrieved from the pond late Monday evening, ASP Rajesh Kumar said.

Both the bodies had injury marks on the eyes, he said.

The girls had gone to the field in the afternoon to get vegetables but did not return, the police said.

New Israeli settlement construction to cut Jerusalem from West Bank

16 Nov 2020; MEMO: Israeli settlement watchdog organisation, Peace Now, reported yesterday that new Israeli settlement construction aims to split occupied East Jerusalem from the occupied West Bank.

Peace Now revealed that the Israeli Ministry of Housing and Israel Land Authority yesterday began accepting bids for 1,257 housing units to be built in the settlement of Givat HaMatos.
