08 Nov 2020; MEMO: Palestine, the Arab League, Qatar, and Jordan on Saturday strongly condemned Israel’s demolition of a village in occupied West Bank, Anadolu reports.

Israel’s recent aggression is “a blatant violation of the rules of international law and international covenants,” Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali, the Arab League’s assistant secretary-general for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories told Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Hamas chief urges Biden to scrap ‘deal of the century’

08 Nov 2020; MEMO: Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has called on US President-elect Joe Biden to pull back outgoing President Donald Trump’s so-called “deal of the century”, Anadolu reports.

In a statement, Haniyeh asked the Biden administration to abolish the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the embassy move to the holy city.

Trump’s “deal of the century” refers to Jerusalem as “Israel’s undivided capital” and recognizes Israeli sovereignty over large parts of the West Bank.

Jordan’s Queen Noor criticises Israel’s demolition of Palestine homes

07 Nov 2020; MEMO: Jordanian Queen Noor Al-Hussein has slammed the Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem as “disgusting” behaviour, Shehab News Agency reported on Friday.

Her remarks came as she tweeted a comment on a BBC report about Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes during the last decade.

Israel soldiers and settlers storm the archaeological site of Sebastia in West Bank

06 Nov 2020; MEMO: Israeli settlers invaded the Sebastia archaeological site in the northern West Bank city of Nablus for the second day in a row, reported Wafa news agency.

The archaeological area has been closed to Palestinians after hundreds of Israeli settlers accompanied by soldiers invaded the Palestinian town, said the Mayor of Sebastia, Mohammad Azem.

US to sanction leader of Lebanon's Free Patriotic Movement

06 Nov 2020; MEMO: The United States is planning to sanction Gebran Bassil, the leader of Lebanon’s Free Patriotic Movement party, which was founded by President Michel Aoun and is allied with Hezbollah, the Wall Street Journal reported late on Thursday, Reuters reports.

US President Donald Trump’s administration is expected on Friday to impose the sanctions on Bassil for assisting his ally, the Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah, the newspaper reported, citing sources.
