India: NPR dangerous game, a precursor to NRC: Mamata

Kolkata Jan 20 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday appealed to her counterparts in the northeast and non-BJP states to take a note of the "clauses" mentioned in the NPR form, before participating in the exercise to update the register.

Dubbing the NPR exercise as "a dangerous game", Banerjee said the form, which seeks birth details of parents, could be nothing but a precursor to NRC implementation.

Palestine Accuses U.S. Of Turning Palestinian Statehood To Israel-Controlled Cantons

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Jan 20 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine accused the United States of trying to turn the future Palestinian state into cantons under Israeli control.

“The U.S. administration wants to transform the Palestinians into small cantons, in an entity that is under Israeli control,” said Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Executive Committee of Palestine Liberation Organisation.

India: Centre must come clear on de-radicalisation camps: Tarigami

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 18 (PTI) CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Saturday demanded that the Union government come clear on the de-radicalisation camps operating in India and alleged that they were "illegal and unconstitutional".

The central government should make it clear where these camps are operating, Tarigami, who is here in connection with the three-day CPI(M) central committee meet, told reporters.

India: Yogendra Yadav lashes out at Modi govt over CAA

Thane, Jan 19 (PTI) Criticising the Centre over the Citizenship Amendment Act, Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav said it is unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can only see the "white cap" and "hijab" (worn by Muslims) but not the national flag in the hands of lakhs of people.

He said the ongoing protests across the country against some decisions of the Centre were a way for people to vent out their "suffocation".

Israeli Army Demolishes Palestinian School in Occupied West Bank

WEST BANK, Palestine, Jan 19 (NNN-WAFA) – Israeli forces today (yesterday), demolished the foundations of a new school in Southern West Bank, according to Rateb Jabour, a member of the National and Popular Committee, Resisting the Wall and Settlements.

Jabour said that, Israeli soldiers stormed the area and began to demolish the foundation of the building.

The school was being built between Yatta and Bani Naim, near the illegal Jewish Israeli settlement of Beni Hefer.

India: Women protest CAA & NRC in Chamanganj park

Beginning from 4 p.m.everyday it concludes at 9 p.m. As the sit-ins are largely attended by the females, young and old, they do not appear to be hindered from their resolve to protest amid the stringent cold climatic conditions.

Raising their voice against the Citizenship Amendment Act and proposed Nation Register of Citizens they emphasised that biased law was not acceptable to them.

Israel army demolishes school to disrupt education for Palestinians

18 Jan 2019; MEMO: A school that was in the middle of construction in the town of Yatta located in the south Hebron hills of the occupied West Bank has been destroyed by Israeli soldiers, reported the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

The foundations of what would have been an elementary school was built between Yatta and Bani Naim, in an area close to the illegal Israeli settlement of Beni Hefer.

Greek politician likens Haftar to Serbian war criminal

18 Jan 2019; MEMO: A Greek opposition party leader has likened Libya’s renegade commander Khalifa Haftar to former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic, a convicted war criminal.

This came after Haftar visited Athens on Friday and met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

India: Students lead mega protest rally against CAA in Nagaland

Dimapur, Jan 18 (PTI) Thousands of people led by students from different colleges gathered in the Supermarket area in Dimapur district of Nagaland on Saturday to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

With banners and placards saying, "We stand united against CAA", "Save Dimapur - Listen to peoples' voice" and "CAA -- Modi Shah vote bank", people from all walks of life joined the protest rally.

Addressing the gathering, the students urged people to unite and fight until the Act is revoked.
