India: If BJP or govt engaged Israeli agencies to snoop, it's gross rights violation: Priyanka

New Delhi, Nov 1 (PTI) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said if the BJP or the government engaged Israeli agencies to snoop into the phones of journalists, lawyers, activists and politicians, it is a "scandal" with grave ramifications for national security.

Her remarks come after WhatsApp said that Indian scribes and human rights activists were among those globally spied upon by unnamed entities using Israeli spyware Pegasus.

New Zealand bans video game glorifying Christchurch terrorist attack

WELLINGTON, Oct 31 (NNN-AGENCIES) — New Zealand’s Chief Censor said he had banned a video game that appeared to glorify the mass shooting in Christchurch earlier this year that killed 51 Muslim worshippers.

In an attack broadcast live on Facebook, a lone gunman armed with semi-automatic weapons targeted Muslims attending prayers in two Christchurch mosques on March 15, killing 51 people and wounding dozens.

Iran’s Khamenei blames US, Israel for chaos in Iraq, Lebanon

31 Oct 2019; MEMO: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei yesterday blamed the US and Israel for  the turmoil in Iraq and Lebanon, urging protesters in both countries to lawfully seek their rights.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony at Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defence University, he accused the US and Western intelligence services of inflicting damage and of creating “chaos” in the region, Al Jazeera reported.

India: Girl, 9, raped in UP's Fatehpur

Banda (UP), Oct 30 (PTI) A nine-year-old girl, who was alone at home, was allegedly raped by a man in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, police said on Wednesday.

The girl was alone at her house as her family members had gone to work in the agricultural fields when the 20-year-old accused, a resident of the same village, took her to a place falling under Khaga Kotwali police station area and allegedly raped her on Tuesday evening, they said.

Later, when the family members went to the accused's house to confront him, they were manhandled and beaten up, police said.

India: Uzbek rape victim seeks arrest of accused police officer

Mumbai, Oct 30 (PTI) An Uzbek woman, who was allegedly raped by a police officer, met senior officials on Wednesday seeking action against the accused.

Alleging that the Chembur police were favouring the accused inspector Bhanudas Jadhav, the victim also demanded that the probe be handed over to the crime branch.

"The victim and her lawyer met Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and others at the Police Commissioner Office in South Mumbai," an official said.

India: New government scheme targets personal gold without receipt

Delhi; 31 Oct 2019 (UMM): According to a new Government of India scheme, a fine will be imposed on gold above a fixed quantity without proper purchase receipts.

Though the details of the scheme are yet to be revealed, government claims that the scheme is to prevent black money in gold investment.

Indian-American attorney demands US Congressional fact-finding mission to Kashmir

Washington, Oct 30; GANASHAKTI: An Indian-American attorney has urged US lawmakers to schedule a bipartisan Congressional fact-finding mission to Kashmir, a day after a delegation of the European Union (EU) parliamentarians visited the Valley for an on the ground assessment of the situation there.

A delegation of 23 EU MPs arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday on a two-day visit to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the Indian government revoked its special status on August 5.
