New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Wednesday said he will start ordering from Zomato after the food delivery company refused to resolve a customer's complaint about being assigned a Muslim delivery executive for his order.

"I have not ordered food so far, but I think I will do so now from Zomato," Chidambaram said on Twitter.

His response came after the company responded to its customer saying, "Food doesn't have a religion. It is a religion."

Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Jul 31 (PTI) A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and beheaded by two men after abducting her from a platform of the Tatanagar railway station in Jharkhand last week, police said on Wednesday.

The torso of the girl, kept in a plastic bag, was recovered from a bush under Telco police station area, around 4 kilometre from the railway station on Tuesday night, they said.

Three persons, including the two prime accused, were arrested in this connection.

31 July 2019; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority Prime Minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh, said on Tuesday that a new body has been formed to deal with the suspension of deals signed with Israel, Quds Press has reported.

Speaking at the annual conference of the International Meeting of the Communist and Workers’ Parties held in Ramallah, Shtayyeh said that the PA leadership took this decision due to Israel’s violation of all deals signed with the PLO.

31 July 2019; MEMO: Half of the American voters think President Donald Trump is a racist, according to a new poll Tuesday reports Anadolu Agency.

Fifty-one percent of Americans said Trump is a racist, while 45% said he is not, the poll by Quinnipiac University revealed.

“While half of the voters think President Donald Trump is racist, religion shows an even bigger divide,” said Mary Snow, polling analyst for the survey.

New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought a report from its secretary general as to why a letter written by the Unnao rape victim to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, apprehending threat to her life, was not placed before him.

"Unfortunately, the letter is yet to see the light of the day and yet the newspapers flashed it as if I have read the letter," Justice Gogoi said.

The observations came when senior lawyer V Giri, who is assisting the court as an amicus curiae in child rape cases, sought urgent listing of the Unnao rape case.

Lucknow, Jul 30 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh BJP said on Tuesday that rape-accused MLA Kuldeep Sengar was suspended from the party long ago, amid growing demands to sack the lawmaker after the Unnao rape survivor was critically injured in a car-truck collision.

"Sengar was suspended by the party earlier and there is no change in his status," state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh told PTI. "There is no change in the position of the party and the government, which is standing with the victim of the Unnao (rape) case."

30 July 2019; MEMO: The US Senate on Monday failed to override President Donald Trump’s vetoes of legislation passed by Congress that would have blocked the sales of certain weapons to Saudi Arabia, Reuters reports.

In the first of three separate efforts to overturn the Republican president’s vetoes, supporters failed by a vote of 45-40, well short of the two-thirds needed. Five of the chamber’s 53 Republicans joined Democrats in voting to override Trump.

30 July 2019; MEMO: Airstrikes killed more than 10 civilians including children in a market in Yemen’s northern Saada province on Monday, a medical source and Houthi-run media reported, says Reuters.

The manager of the local Al Jomhouri hospital said 13 people were killed and 23 injured in airstrikes in Qatabir district by a Saudi-led coalition battling the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen. Al Masirah TV said more than 10 civilians were killed.
