India: RS approves resolution on J&K

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) Rajya Sabha on Monday approved a resolution abrogating Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir and a bill to bifurcate the state into two union territories with Home Minister Amit Shah saying the controversial provisions were responsible for poverty and lack of development in the state.

Allaying opposition fears of all hell breaking loose after the move, Shah replying, "nothing will happen" and it won't be allowed to turn into another battle torn Kosovo.

Mexico to Take Legal Action Against US Post-El Paso Shooting

MEXICO CITY, AUg 5 (NNN-TELESUR) – Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said Sunday that the country will take legal actions to protect its citizens in the United States, following a shooting in El Paso, Texas, that left 20 dead, including three Mexicans.

“The president has instructed me to ensure that Mexico’s indignation translates into… efficient, prompt, expeditious and forceful legal actions for Mexico to take a role and demand that conditions are established that protect… Mexicans in the United States,” Ebrard said in a video posted on Twitter.

Black day in constitutional history of India: Chidambaram on Article 370 move

New Delhi, Aug 5; GANASHAKTI: Terming the revoking of Article 370 a "catastrophic step", the Congress accused the BJP of taking the decision "for votes" and said it marks a "black day" in the constitutional history of India.

The government on Monday revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed that the state be bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Los Angeles, Aug 5; GANASHAKTI: Singer John Legend has always been a vocal critic of US President Donald Trump and the musician has once again attacked him in the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso and Ohio, saying he "inspires killers".

The singer posted a series of tweets calling the president a part of the problem.

US woman protests over bail to her rapist in India, releases video

New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) The Delhi High Court has granted bail and suspended the seven years' sentence awarded to a man for digitally raping an American woman who recently shot a video outside the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, alleging that she was denied assistance there.

El Paso terrorist appears to have posted anti-immigrant screed

DALLAS (AP) — About 20 minutes before the shooting started at an El Paso Walmart, a rambling screed was posted to an online message board saying the massacre was in response to an “invasion” of Hispanics coming across the southern border.

Titled “The Inconvenient Truth,” it railed against the dangers of mass immigration and warned that Hispanics will eventually take over the economy and government. The writer argued that attacking “low-security” targets was a way to “fight to reclaim my country from destruction.”
