17 Indians abroad infected with coronavirus

New Delhi, Mar 4 (PTI) Seventeen Indians have been infected with coronavirus abroad, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday.

Responding to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said 16 cases were reported from Japan on the cruise ship and one from the UAE.

India: Detach census operations from NPR: CPI(M)

New Delhi, Mar 4 (PTI) The CPI(M) on Wednesday demanded that the government detaches the census operations from the National Population Register (NPR) process.

In a statement, the party said that given the opposition by several chief ministers over the NPR process, it is necessary to separate the collection of data for the census operation from the announced NPR enumeration.

India: Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) launched

New Delhi, Mar 4 (PTI) The second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), which has a total outlay of Rs 1,40,881 crore, was launched by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat here on Wednesday.

SBM (G) Phase-II will focus on sustaining the gains made in the first phase of the programme in the last five years in terms of toilet access and usage, and will ensure that no one is left behind, he said.

Delhi violence: Victims picking up the pieces amid tight security

New Delhi, Mar 4 (PTI) A week after the communal violence in northeast Delhi, the residents are slowly picking up the pieces as the government's relief and rehabilitation measures have kicked in amid tight vigil by security forces.

The police have been conducting flag marches and holding meetings with the locals in Jafrabad, Maujpur, Babarpur, Chand Bagh, Shiv Vihar, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Mustafabad where the violence, that sparked from protests over the amended Citizenship Act, was the most intense.

COVID-19 Cases In India Rise To 28

NEW DELHI, Mar 4 (NNN-PTI) – The number of COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 28, after 15 Italian tourists tested positive today (Wednesday), said media reports.

An emergency meeting is going on in the country’s Health Ministry, to take stock of the situation.

The country’s Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, is scheduled to brief the media, after the meeting concludes.

India: Crime branch to probe Delhi massacre

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) The Delhi Police crime branch will investigate 47 murder cases which were filed after violence rocked the northeast part of the national capital, sources said on Monday.

The death toll in the communal clashes over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) that erupted a week ago remained at 42 even as four bodies were fished out of drains in northeast Delhi on Sunday.

Indian PM thinking of giving up my social media accounts

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he is contemplating giving up social media presence.

India: All preparations done for hanging of Nirbhaya rapists

New Delhi, Mar 3 (PTI) Delhi's Tihar Prison authorities had made all necessary preparations for the hanging of four convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case which was scheduled for Tuesday, officials said.

However, on Monday evening, a city court deferred the hanging till further orders.

India: Kejriwal calls on PM; Delhi riots discussed

It was their first meeting after the Aam Aadmi Party returned to power in the national capital for a third consecutive term.
