Serbia-China friendship is indestructible: Serbian PM

BELGRADE, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The friendship between Serbia and China is indestructible and their pragmatic cooperation has yielded fruitful results, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said here on Wednesday, stressing that cooperation with China is fully in line with Serbia's current and long-term interests.

The Serbian prime minister made the remarks when she met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

During the meeting, Wang conveyed the warm greetings from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Brnabic.

Russia, ASEAN agree to step up cooperation in Asia-Pacific region

MOSCOW, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Russia and the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed on Thursday to step up cooperation to build "a peaceful, stable and sustainable region."

"We all support the expansion of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the vast Asia-Pacific space," Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the fourth Russia-ASEAN summit via video link.

Minister: Poland should not pay any of its EU court fines

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s justice minister said Thursday the European Union member should not pay any of the total $1.8 million daily fines the EU’s top court imposed for Warsaw’s ignoring its injunctions on changes to the judiciary and operation of a lignite mine.

Zbigniew Ziobro called the European Court of Justice injunctions lawless. Poland insists the court has no authority over its justice system and has been ignoring its rulings.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Truck driver Andriy Melnik never took the coronavirus seriously. With a friend, he bought a fake vaccination certificate so his travel documents would appear in order when he hauled cargo to other parts of Europe.

His view changed after the friend caught COVID-19 and ended up in an intensive care unit on a ventilator.

US appeal case starts for extradition of WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange

28 Oct 2021; MEMO: The US government appeal case against a decision that blocks the extradition of WikiLeaks' co-founder Julian Assange began on Wednesday, Anadolu News Agency reports.

The US government's legal representatives will try to overturn the decision, which was issued last January, based on the concerns over Assange's mental health.

The US said it was "extremely disappointed" with the decision blocking his extradition.
