BRUSSELS, October 11. /TASS/: Russia’s victory in the conflict in Ukraine would be a defeat for NATO, the alliance must not allow such an outcome, the organization’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday at a press conference ahead of the meetings of NATO Defence Ministers on October 12-13 in Brussels.

MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Tuesday compared Kiev’s latest actions to those of the most heinous terrorist organizations.

According to the Russian diplomat, Kiev has been receiving Western money, weapons, intel and political support for years. The Kiev regime has recently been receiving exactly the same from the West "for the lawless actions it committed in the manner of the worst terrorist cells," she emphasized.

KYIV, Oct 11 (Reuters) - A deputy head of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine has been kidnapped by Russian forces and is being detained in an unknown location, Ukraine's state nuclear energy company Energoatom said on Tuesday.

In a post on the Telegram messaging app, Energoatom said the official, Valeriy Martynyuk, had been seized on Monday. The Russian defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

MOSCOW, Oct 11 (Reuters) - A Kremlin spokesman said on Tuesday that U.S. promises to supply advanced air defence systems to Ukraine will only extend the conflict and inflict more pain for Ukraine.

U.S. President Joe Biden pledged to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday that the United States will provide Ukraine with advanced air systems after a devastating missile barrage from Russia.

The spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, also said that the deliveries would not change Moscow's goals in its military operation in Ukraine.

KYIV, Oct 11 (Reuters) - U.S.-led NATO said on Tuesday its member states were boosting security around key installations after Russia escalated its attacks on Ukraine and stepped up threats against the West.

Russian missiles hit Ukraine for a second day, although with less intensity than on Monday, when dozens of air raids killed 19 people, wounded more than 100 and knocked out power supplies across the country.

LONDON, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that Moscow was open to talks with the West on the Ukraine war but had yet to receive any serious proposal to negotiate.

In an interview on state TV, Lavrov said Russia was willing to engage with the United States or with Turkey on ways to end the war, now in its eight month.

His emphasis on Russia's receptiveness to talks came after a series of stinging defeats since the start of September that have swung the momentum of the conflict in favour of Ukraine.

BUDAPEST, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Peter Szijjarto, Hungary's minister of foreign affairs and trade, said here on Tuesday that he will travel to Moscow this Thursday to deliver a strong message of peace and to discuss ways to ensure Hungary's energy supplies.

He will be there to participate in the event "Russian Energy Week".

LONDON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The United Kingdom's (UK) unemployment rate in the three months to August decreased to 3.5 percent, the lowest since February 1974, as long-term sickness kept some workers out of the labor market, official data showed on Tuesday.

The number of people unemployed for between 6 and 12 months increased in the June-August period, while there were decreases for the short-term (up to 6 months) and long-term (over 12 months) unemployed, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The announcement came less than a week after OPEC+, a group of oil producers that includes the UAE and Russia, agreed steep oil production cuts in defiance of US pressure.

10 October 2022; MEMO: Finnish Prime Minister, Sanna Marin, said that she hopes her country's NATO membership will be approved by Turkiye as soon as possible, Turkish local media reports.

According to the report, Marin said that they discussed the approval process of her country's NATO membership with Erdogan in Prague last week.
