Jammu, Aug 13 (PTI) Seeking to woo businesses to Jammu and Kashmir after scrapping of Article 370, the state administration on Tuesday announced a three-day global investors summit to be held in Srinagar from October 12.

The meet will provide J-K an opportunity to showcase its strengths, strategies and potential, the state's Principal Secretary (Industries), Naveen Choudhary, told reporters here.

Srinagar, Aug 13 (PTI) Two hours in the queue and just about two minutes on the phone. That's the new equation many Kashmiris are dealing with as they line up outside the Deputy Commissioner's office here, waiting anxiously for their turn to speak to their families and others outside the Valley.

New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) The Supreme Court Tuesday refused to pass any immediate directions to the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government on a plea seeking lifting of all restrictions imposed after the abrogation of Article 370.

The apex court said that it will wait for return of normalcy and take up the matter after two weeks.

New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) The customary exchange of sweets between the BSF and Pakistan Rangers along the International Border did not take place on Monday on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, officials said.

The unilateral withdrawal of diplomatic ties by Pakistan with India in the wake of the Modi government's decision to revoke provisions of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir is being seen as a reason for the non-conduct of the ceremony.

Srinagar, Aug 12 (PTI) Eid al-Adha prayers on Monday morning at various mosques in the Kashmir Valley concluded without any violence, police said.

The authorities had on Sunday said people will be allowed to visit neighbourhood mosques to offer prayers.

New Delhi, Aug 10 (PTI) A petition was on Saturday filed by an editor of a prominent daily from Jammu and Kashmir in the Supreme Court seeking removal of restrictions imposed on working of journalists in the state after scrapping of provisions of Article 370.

Anuradha Bhasin, Executive Editor of Kashmir Times, has sought directions for restoration of all modes of communication, including mobile Internet and landline services, throughout the state in order to provide an enabling environment for the media to practise its profession.

Jammu, Aug 10 (PTI) Desperate to make their way home, hundreds of migrant labourers continue to arrive at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from Kashmir region, with many complaining they were not paid fully by their employers and overcharged by private transporters.

Officials said over 50,000 labourers have been ferried by the railways to their respective states in the last five days. Yet, the railway stations are chock-a-block with people waiting for special trains out of the state.

Srinagar/Jammu, Aug 9 (PTI) After being confined to their homes for days, people in Kashmir offered Friday prayers in their local mosques as restrictions were eased for the purpose, officials said, adding the Valley was largely peaceful barring minor incidents of stone pelting in the apple-town of Sopore in north Kashmir.

Srinagar, Aug 9 (PTI) As the authorities eased restrictions in Kashmir on Friday, some cattle traders appeared on the roads here to sell their sheep and goat for Eid, but there were few takers.

New Delhi, Aug 9 (PTI) CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday said he and his CPI colleague D Raja were detained at the Srinagar airport on Friday and denied entry into the city.

The Left leaders had gone to the Srinagar to meet their party colleagues.
