NIA makes first attachment of separatist property in Kashmir

New Delhi, Jul 10; GANASHAKTI: The National Investigation Agency on Wednesday attached hardline Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi's house on the outskirts of Srinagar city under the stringent UAPA anti-terror law, officials said here.

The attachment order, the first by NIA against any separatist from Kashmir Valley, was pasted outside the residence of Andrabi, the chief of the banned Dukhtaran-E-Millat group, at 90 Feet Road in Soura area.

Kashmir a dispute between India, Pakistan; should be resolved through dialogue: Farooq

Srinagar, Jul 11 (PTI) National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah Thursday said Kashmir is a "dispute" between India and Pakistan which needs to be resolved through dialogue.

Abdullah, the MP from Srinagar, said nothing would be achieved through military might.

Srinagar; 8 July 2019; GANASHAKTINational Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Sunday lashed out at the Jammu and Kashmir governor and said it was the "height of incompetence and laziness" that S P Malik-led administration required restriction on movement of civilian vehicles on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for the security of Amarnath pilgrims.

Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said the governor's administration was the only administration in 30 years that has required the closure of the highway.

India: Burhan Wani death anniversary: Internet services suspended in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 7; IANS/GANASHAKTI - After the separatists called for a Kashmir-wide protest shutdown on Monday to remember Hizbul poster boy Burhan Wani on his third death anniversary, authorities on Sunday suspended mobile Internet facility in four south Kashmir districts.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a conglomerate of separatist parties headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, has appealed people to observe a protest shutdown on Monday to remember what the JRL called 'the martyrdom of Burhan Wani'.

Srinagar, Jul 5; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Peoples United Front -- an alliance between the parties of bureaucrat-turned-politician Shah Faesal and former MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid --  Friday staged a sit-in here to protest the ban on civilian traffic on a stretch of Srinagar-Jammu national highway for over five hours a day during Amarnath yatra.

Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, July 5: A Kashmiri has been killed in an alleged encounter with Indian security in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir, an Indian official said.

The Indian security forces' spokesperson alleged that a cordon and search operation was underway in the area following information about presence of Kashmiri separatist.

India: Abducted girl rescued in Reasi, kidnapper arrested

Jammu, Jul 2 (PTI) A minor girl, allegedly abducted by a man, was rescued and her kidnapper arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, police said on Tuesday.

A resident of Kansi Patta in Reasi had Monday complained to the police that his daughter who had gone to attend summer classes on June 28 had not returned home, police said.

The complainant told the police that a person named Shankar Singh used to harass his daughter and he suspected him of abducting her, they added.

India: Peace rally held in J-K's Kishtwar

Jammu, Jun 30 (PTI) A peace rally was held in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Sunday, with participants raising slogans that called for maintaining communal harmony.

The rally was organised by the Army and the district administration.

District development commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana; commander of 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier Vikram Bhan; and SSP Kishtwar, Shakti Kumar Pathak, flagged off the rally from Chowgan Ground, an official spokesperson said.

India: 35 dead as bus falls into gorge in J&K

Jammu, Jul 1 (PTI) At least 35 people died and over a dozen were injured when an overcrowded bus skidded off a hilly road and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Monday morning, officials said.

The minibus, which was on its way from Keshwan to Kishtwar, skidded off the Keshwan-Thakrai road and rolled down into the deep gorge around 7.30 am, officials said.

India: First batch of Hindu pilgrims leave for Amarnath yatra

Jammu, Jun 30 (PTI) Amid chants of 'Bam Bam Bhole", the first batch of 2,234 pilgrims left a base camp here for the Amarnath Yatra as the annual pilgrimage to the 3,880 metre high cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas is scheduled to begin Monday.

Over 1.5 lakh pilgrims from across the country have so far registered themselves for the 46-day long yatra, which takes place from the traditional 36-km Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
