2 Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, June 11: Two Kashmiri have been killed in an alleged encounter with Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir, Indian police said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that a cordon and search operation in Awneera area of Shopian was conducted following information about presence of Kashmiri separatist.

Srinagar, June 8: A Kashmiri has been killed in an alleged encounter with Indian security forces in Anantnag district of Indian administered Kashmir, an Indian official said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that a cordon and search operation in Verinag area of the south Kashmir district was conducted following information about presence of Kashmiri separatist.

India: 'Peer' held over teen's rape in J&K

Jammu, June 7 (PTI) A self-proclaimed 'peer' was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, police said on Friday.

The accused, Qasim, 50, was evading arrest since he was booked on the charge of raping the teenager several times and impregnating her. A special team had tried to arrest Qasim earlier, but he frequently changed his location, an officer said.

Acting on a tip-off, the accused was arrested in Banihal in an operation conducted and supervised by senior police officers of the district, the police added.

4 Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, June 7: Four Kashmiri have been killed in an alleged ‘encounter’ with Indian security forces on Friday in Pulwama district of Indian administered Kashmir, police said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that a cordon and search operation in Panjran area of Pulwama, following information about presence of Kashmiris separatists there.

Clashes between protesters and Indian security forces after Eid prayers

Srinagar, Jun 5 : Clashes between protestors and security forces were reported after Eid prayers in some parts of Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.

There were no reports of anyone getting hurt in these clashes, they said.

The festival of Eid was celebrated with much fanfare across the state with people thronging mosques, shrines and Eidgahs to offer prayers on the culmination of the holy moth of Ramzan.

Srinagar, June 3: Two Kashmiri have been killed by the Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir, an Indian official said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that the Army had laid a checkpoint at Moolu Chitragam in Shopian in the early hours. A private vehicle jumped the checkpoint. Militants got out of it and opened fire. The security personnel retaliated, leading to the death of two persons, police alleged.

India: Over 200 shacks gutted in massive fire in Jammu

Jammu, June 3 (PTI) A massive fire fuelled by high intensity winds gutted over 200 shacks of labourers in the city's Trikutanagar area early Monday, officials said.

No causalities were reported in the blaze

The fire broke out in the Maratha cluster near Trikutnagar Railway Station area around 0100 hours and rapidly spread to the entire area due to high intensity winds, according to locals.

One Pakistani among 5 killed by Indian security forces in Indian admin Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 1 (PTI) One of the two separatists killed by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of Indian administered Kashmir on Friday was a Pakistani, J&K police said on Saturday.

A total of four separatists and an "active associate" were killed on Friday in two alleged encounters with Indian security forces in Shopian and Pulwama districts of Indian administered Kashmir.

Curfew imposed in parts of Kashmir, educational institutes shut following Tral encounter

Srinagar, May 24 :  Curfew was imposed in parts of Kashmir on Friday, a day after Zakir Musa, the so-called chief of a group affiliated to the Al-Qaeda, was believed to have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Tral.

Educational institutions have been closed and curfew was imposed in places in Kashmir as a precautionary measure, following the Thursday incident, officials said.

Internet was also shutdown, they said.

Musa, who is believed to have been killed in the gunfight with security forces, was the so-called head of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Dadsara district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, May 24: A Kashmiri named Zakir Musa has been killed in an alleged encounter with Indian security forces in Dadsara in Tral area of Pulwama district, an Indian official said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that a cordon and search operation in Dadsara in Tral area of Pulwama was conducted following information about presence of Kashmiris separatists.
